One of Eastern Europe’s oldest cities and the Ukrainian capital, Kiev is a hospitable city with plenty to offer: from its historical heritage to inspiring architecture and modern commerce centres. So jump on Kiev’s impressive metro and enjoy the ride!

The city features many places of worship with golden-domed and cave monasteries, orthodox churches and cathedrals. The most famous ones include the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, one of Ukraine’s most important monasteries and founded in 1077 by St Antoniy. The other is St Sophia’s Cathedral housing the world’s largest collection of frescoes and mosaics from the 11th century onwards.

Kiev is not only known for its sacred buildings; it is also very rich in the people’s history. Over 40 different museums are visited by millions of guests every year. It includes the Museum of the Great Patriotic War with a stunning, more than 100 metres high monument of Mother Motherland.

    Kyiv will surprise Western tourists.

    Kyiv will surprise Western tourists. The train from the border was just like any other European Intercity Express, only much cheaper. Kyiv's sights are worth seeing, the statue with the sword, the Dnieper River, and the churches with their spectacular golden domes. Ukraine is at war, there are airraid sirens some nights, but the Ukrainian people are special, and a trip here will be very rewarding. Remember, anything we can do to support Ukraine supports the democracies we have at home, whether you be Indian, British, US, Canadian, New Zealander or Australian.

    A beautiful city! Still lots to do!

    A beautiful city! Still lots to do! Went swimming at the beach along the Dnipro River every day! Most amazing outdoor gym at Hidropark! Metro is very efficient and very inexpensive! A tragedy Russia is bombing it everyday! Everything is still open and functional.

    Kyiv is a beautiful European capital city with charm and amazing history. There are a large number of volunteer opportunities for foreign visitors during the full-scale war. I have been to Kyiv twice during the past 12 months and both times felt very safe while taking common-sense precautions. There are shelters that should be used during times of attack. But with reasonable accomodations, this city can be safely visited and good work can be done to aid the Ukrainian people.

    Amazing city great people can't wait to go back! the Only downside at night you will have to go to a bunker till they solve the drone issue. But One of the most beautiful places i've ever gone in my life. Food is great and super cost effective. Taxis are crazy cheap. The people are lovely!

    Kiev is a big metropolis full of contrasts. On the one hand, you'll find great prices for services that exceed many European cities, but on the other hand, there are streets without asphalt full of potholes. You can only enjoy Kiev if you have a car, because the distances are really long. And even if public transport works well, the distances are great and there is no clear way to find out the real and realistic timetable. And, of course, count on congestion. On the other hand, Kiev has no comparison in the region. It is bigger than most cities in the region and really full of people. It can be compared to the capitals of the Balkan countries, but it certainly surpasses them in magnificence. And with that comes a much wider range of services and quality that it offers. And don't forget "Stay safe". Don't underestimate security, Russian terror is omnipresent here.

    If you listen to the media, you'd think that the whole city...

    If you listen to the media, you'd think that the whole city was a burning ruin. NONSENSE. It's profoundly normal for the most part. I call it "punctuated normality": everything happens as usual but occasionally the shit hits the fan and you just hunker down for a little while, then go back about your affairs. Kind of like a passing thunderstorm. And yes lightning strikes, but it's entirely random, and statistically your changes are extremely low of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I feel far more danger when driving on any American freeway. Objectively, the greatest risk on a day-to-day basis is being hit by youngsters riding scooters and electric bike on sidewalks. I call them terrorists. Rush hour traffic is maddening, the supermarket shelves are always stocked to the brim, shopping malls are crowded, the nightlife is very active, I can't think of a service that I need that I can't get.

    Amazing hotel with kind, friendly staff and very comfortable location. Rooms are clean and cozy, I liked windows and my bed. I had everything I needed to rest and work: electricity, heating, WiFi, towels, bathrobe and slippers, etc. A girl on the reception is awesome, she made my stay very pleasant! I liked her advice on how to park the car, where to buy food. My recommendation for business trips or for tourists who are interested in the city center life.
