The old town is quite charming.

The old town is quite charming. The highlight for us were the ancient churches so beautifully maintained/restored and that Arabs, Kurds and the very small Christian minority live together harmoniously. Everyone seemed so gracious and kind.

A beautiful town, completely different from the Turkiye known by those who visit the coast. Kurdish, not Turkish, with Christian buildings going back to the fourth century and a culture that encompasses many religions and languages. A good base for a day trip (with guide) to Midyat and other local sites. Plenty of restaurants, serving wide variety of foods. Wine shops, selling local wines, but no bars in the old town. Really wish we had read more before going. Pictures show the beautiful pale-coloured buildings climbing up the hillside but not the fact that the 'roads' are more often steps. Wonderful small narrow streets, a copper bazaar where people were at work, incredible churches, mosques and madrasas - but you need to have good hips and knees! An excellent Hamam, open for men mornings and evenings, for women in the afternoons. For anyone interested in early Christianity, in cultural melting pots, or in somewhere unlike most tourist towns, Mardin and Midyat, and the necropolis at Dara, the area is exceptional. Allow about four days and bring sensible shoes. Good and cheap bus service from the airport, no need to use taxis.

Welcome to the fairy tale, that was our first feeling. After climbing so many steps and looking for a hotel in narrow streets, we have found a gem, with amazing Mezopotamia views, elegant doves, large rooms, very friendly and helful owner. That were our first bathrooms in Turkey, where the sinks didnt badly stink. We even spent one night under the night sky on the big outside beds - beautiful experience.

we had an incredibly beautiful stay at this hotel. lovely hosts, a big and absolutely clean room, a cosy terrace overlooking mesopotamia, a central location close to everything to be explored in beautiful mardin (and perfect weather) - and very family-friendly, our 4-year old daughter made friends with the owners :) - what do you want more? nothing! we would love to come again.

Lovely family-ran hotel that brings together the beauty of ancient space (the building is around 900 years old) and modern design with an oriental touch. Located in the heart of Old Mardin, it was a perfect place to stay. The owners are very friendly, welcoming and ready to help with anything. The breakfast was really nice, too.

The hotel is in a good location, close to the Attila tea garden and bus stop on the Main Street. The price I paid was an absolute steal, particularly given that Mardin is a magnet for Turkish tourists, and the room (a triple) was spacious. A couple of problems with the toilet and shower were fixed rapidly.
