FAQs about hotels in Istanbul

The Best of Asia and Europe

The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. The amazing Old Town and the Sultanahmet are home to iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. More history is hidden in the Topkapi Palace, where you can glimpse the splendour and opulence of Turkey’s Ottoman heritage.

Take a stroll through the historic centre or the bustling Taksim Square before watching the sun set behind countless mosques and minarets. Local fish markets and numerous restaurants lining the bridge to Galata offer the Golden Horn’s daily catch.

If you prefer the fine art of bargaining to fine art, lose yourself in the Grand Bazar and maybe you’ll emerge with a hookah, some Turkish coffee, or even a carpet. The Spice Bazar further immerses you in the sights, smells, and tastes of Turkish culture.

Getting to Istanbul is an easy trip from Ataturk International Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel on the Asian side or a budget hostel in Taksim Square, Booking.com has over 1,000 great accommodations for your holiday in Istanbul.

Be sure to find an accommodation close to the things you want to visit, keep in mind that de parking costs around 15 EUR/day. Buy a card for public transportation from the ATM’s available in all tram stations, T1 line will take you to the main visiting points. Make sure you search for the cost of the admision tickets before going, because the prices are not low at all (foreign visitors pay way more then local ones). We bought tickets at the counter on the spot, no price diffrence from online. Also at Dolmabahce, your child will pay the student fair which will save you good money. About the food, eat what you want, for us was nothing new as we know turkish cuisine from our home town - Costanta, Romania (at the Black Sea Shore).

Istanbul is a huge city.

Istanbul is a huge city. Lots of places are really expensive, especially for foreigners (they have to pay way more than Turks). I would advice to get off the beaten track and instead of going for less known places. Theodosian Walls are a must-see, try to search for local districts and local food.

We very much enjoyed visiting Istanbul, with its vibrant, diverse culture and mix of old and new. The Blue Mosque was our favourite stop, such a beautiful building holding great historic significance. We also enjoyed just roaming through the streets of Old Town Sultanahmet and the numerous friendly, healthy city cats. Public transport is easy to navigate, you can tap on with your personal bank card, you pay a little more, but if you are only taking a few trips, you don't have the hassle to access an Istanbulkart and top up.

When you visit you must have cash not use cards for payments because the locals charge a fee when using card payments. Don’t trust uber because they are not allowed at the airport and they don’t tell until you book and they cancel a trip which then charges for cancellation.

First time visiting Istanbul, and it was definitely worth while going. Chaotic city, but loved the vibe! The city is full of history (Santa Sofia, the grand bazar, Topkapi Palace,...) and the mini-cruise on the Bosporus was fun (you can buy the extra drinks on board). The only drawback was the cost of the restaurants, really high by European standards especially compared to the quality of the food and the venues. The accommodation was definitely value for money.

Exceptionally elegant contemporary interior design throughout the premises. Professionally and highly trained welcoming and very polite and helpful staff. Micheline star worthy restaurant and room service. Spotless cleanliness across the board. Breath taking spa , very well equipped and spacious gym. Best value for money by country miles out of my hundreds of stays at 5 star hotels across the world, I’ll definitely stay there every time I go to Istanbul.

Amazing view from the window. Possibly the best in Istanbul. Enough spacious room for two. Comfortable bed. Friendly and helpful staff who will always help with any questions. Delicious breakfast, but although you can make it more varied. The hotel is located in the downtown. All sights can be reached on foot. Galata bridge under the window. 10 minutes to the Galata Tower. 5 minutes to Galataport. 20 minutes to Sultanahmet.

Not expensive place right next to Taksim Square. The location is perfect. Don't expect a luxury place, it is adequate to the price. I was many times in Budak and always have a good experience with the staff. Thank you for check in in the middle of the night. Actually it is not a hotel so I always feel like in a private little flat in the center of Istanbul. I never had any problems in Budak.

Absolutely everything. The best is the staff and especially Kassem. I think there is no better location than Sirkeci : the bosphorus is 5 mins by feet and Sultanahmet 10 mins. The transports are also very close (tramway, ,marmaray under the hotel). The view during the breakfast is absolutely amazing, one of the best I've seen of Istanbul. Thank you and hope to see you again soon 🥰

Amazing location, just next to Taksim square. Room is newly furbished and very clean. Very close to bus shuttles which go to airport, also close to Istanbul metro. Hotel staff was also friendly and helpful. If you are in Istanbul for couple of days and looking for a central hotel just to sleep, perfect choice.
