Accommodation by the main road, but the windows muffle the noise perfectly. It was so hot that we were only ventilated in the morning and late evening, we were not disturbed by cars. We appreciated the air conditioning in the apartment given the weather. Parking in the private lot right in front of the house. We drove with bikes, these could be parked in the garage by arrangement. The apartment itself is accessible by stairs to the first floor. The description and photos of the apartment completely correspond to reality. The beds were comfortable for us - both the bed and the sofa bed! (We don't like the very soft ones, these provide enough support for the body to keep us from sinking into the valley.) The furnishings are simple, sufficient for basic functioning, I would retrofit the kitchen for longer, we are used to cooking more often. Mainly we were missing two things - a kettle for tea and a slightly bigger pot for cooking spaghetti for 4 spaghetti-eaters :-). I must add that even so it was not a problem to cook anything, everything could be replaced with the existing equipment - this was just missing to make cooking more convenient. The hosts are the nicest friendliest people you'll ever meet! We honestly loved our stay. For our arrival, they left a bottle of wine and chocolates on the table which was so nice after a long day of difficult travel. We were gifted tomatoes from their garden and a delicious freshly baked (by the host) cake in the middle of our stay. When we wanted to drop by a local farm to get some cheese, the host was nice enough to call them to make sure they're open and to expect us. The place itself is lovely and clean. It's clearly been renovated recently and is well taken care of. The decor is pretty and well thought out. The town itself is surrounded by gorgeous mountains and you can see some of them from the patio. The view of the garden is lovely as well. And they also have the most adorable monkeys in their home (right below the rental) that we loved watching on our way in and out. Overall, it's a top notch place and we will absolutely be back if we return to Slovenia, which we definitely hope to do.

The main cable car up the Velika Planina is just a 10 minute...

The main cable car up the Velika Planina is just a 10 minute drive away, and the views from the top on a clear day are breathtaking, and a MUST if visiting the area... well worth ther 26 EUR round trip! Make sure you also visit Ljubljana ... one of the most beautiful small capitals in Europe . It's just 45 mins on the train from Kamnik Graben, and a much better option than driving as car parking in the City is approx. 2.50 EUR an hour. The pizzas at Pri Cesarju in Kamnik are simply the best, and if you want a great burger then '7 Burger' just outside Kamnik is a great option. If you have a car go up to Stari grad nad Kamnikom for a coffee and spectacular views, just a shame that the viewing platform remains closed and inaccessible. The Pekarna Center is a great bakery in the centre of the town, which is opposite the Veronika Cafe which serves the best coffee and cakes! If parking in the centre of Kamnik you get the first 30 mins free. Also remember that NO supermarkets open on a Sunday.

Well worth a visit if one is travelling about Slovenia. It has a nice old style town and within easy car distance are some great walks in the higher mountains. I suspect at busy times of the year and the school holidays in Europe Kamnik will be a busy place and booking early will pay dividends.

We came to Kamnik at the end of a two-week trip in Slovenia. We came mostly to see Velika Planina, which was worth it even if it was a cloudy, windy, and cold day up there. We stayed in Kamnik for two nights, leaving early in the morning to catch a flight on the last day. The Kamnik old town was very cool and fun to walk around for the old architecture. However, when we went (Fri-Sun in late September) almost no shops were open, which was frustrating because I could see cool handicrafts through the windows. The whole town honestly felt a bit deserted. In addition, there are very limited places to eat dinner in town.

The mountains are incredible, so different!

The mountains are incredible, so different! There's a nice historic town centre and all the villages around there are pretty and neat. You can take a cable car up the mountain which is definitely worth doing. It's so easy to get travel to anywhere you want from Kamnik so we were very happy we chose it as our base.

Bathrooms and toilets are cleaned every day. Location is really good; even by foot its doable to reach the location while it is still in a beautiful place and remote from the city. Taxi prices from Kamnik are around 8 euros (from Lidl Kamnik). Breakfast served by the glamping is good, and there is a coffeemachine where you can get more coffee for a good price. The sauna at the glamping is also very much recommended to fully relax.
