Overall quiet, a bit more animated on Fridays and Saturdays, welcoming people, feeling safe, can enjoy night walks, day walks or cycling about 20km along the Mures river, parks in the city and green areas outside, air smelling fresh. Can enjoy the central Theatre, Museum, the cultural Center, and many orthodoxe churches built with magnificent architecture. Nice weather from Spring to Autumn (a very hot Summer in between); you may avoid Winter if you're not a cold weather fun as temperature may go down to minus 10 and deeper. Arad is a beautiful city.
Arad is a beautiful city. The city center has beautiful palaces and buildings primarily in the baroque style of architecture. We enjoyed the market and the variety of foods typically eaten in Romania. Arad is centrally located in western Romania which gave us the opportunity to take day trips to experience highlights like Transylvania’s Covin Castle (influenced Bram Stoker’s novel “Dracula”), The Gardens of Zoe, Timisoara, Szeged (Hungary), and The Bear Cave in the Western Carpathian Mountains.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

It’s well-connected by transportation to other European cities, making it a great base for travel. A lot of renovated late 19th and early 20th century eclectic and art nouveau buildings in the center of the town (although if you are an art nouveau fan, Oradea is definitely a better choice). Lovely town with monumental historic buildings and an idylic riverside. Even more could be done with the Mures valley area in terms of eco tourism and leisure options, but hopefully that's all coming.
