Quarteira is a fantastic spot—just far enough from the busiest areas to feel relaxed, but close enough to jump into the action whenever you want. The beach is beautiful, and you’re only a short stroll from other stunning stretches of sand. Around town you’ll find plenty of shops and eateries, plus a fresh fruit and vegetable market and a lively fish market. The wide promenade is perfect for walkers and joggers, and dotted with outdoor gyms and a small children’s park opposite the police station. We tried several beachfront restaurants—our favourite was Pizzeria e Gelataria Roma. It’s not the fanciest place, but the food was delicious and the service excellent. Truth be told, every restaurant we visited served great food. If you fancy exploring, a 30-minute walk takes you to Vilamoura’s marina, where you’ll find more restaurants and shops—though prices there can be double what you’d pay in Quarteira boutique shops. An Uber will only cost around 3-4 euros to get from Quarteira to the harbour. The whole region has a laid-back, beachy vibe, making it ideal for a chilled-out getaway. Lovely big beach very clean. Walkway was length of beach & again great plenty room to move. Restaurante A GAIVOTA, a must fantastic food staff very attentive& friendly. a must. Lovely beach and town with an array of restaurants and shops for visitors as well as the usual local shops. If you want a quieter, more relaxing holiday than than the usual tourist towns, then here is the place to stay. The locals are very friendly and eager to help. Quarteira is the original town/city with Villamoura harbour an addition created some years ago. People like different things, we are a couple that that like to lay in the sun during the day, find a decent terrace for a late pm drink then a meal out after 8pm. The harbour in Villamoura is visually stunning, it has numerous bars and restaraunts and you will pay for the location. It is unfortunately dominated by large groups of mainly men who bring their tribalism, noise and behavior away with them. Quarteira is much more couples and family orientated, this is probably because it is a real town with real people living it. We split our nights between Villamoura and Quarteira, great meal on the far side of the port in one of the more expensive restaraunts and another in the 19th Hole having a laugh at the kareoke. Quarteira has the Irish bar night out if you want it but with far less testosterone and is much more relaxed. It is ideally located 10mins walk from Vilamoura marina or Quarteira town, their respective bars restaurants and beaches are easily accessed on foot. A large well stocked super market (I need gluten free food options) Continente Modelo is a 25 min walk to Quarteira. The apartment is in a quiet residential area. The beds were comfortable and the pool area clean. Location for us was brilliant, short walk into the town and beach although it is uphill on way back. Could not be happier with this find as we love Portugal and this gave us the freedom to have an apartment rather than a hotel. The children enjoyed the pool which had the sun all afternoon.
