In a quiet settlement, an old house that has been very carefully renovated. Clean, fully equipped kitchen. The hostess is very kind and helpful. The breakfast is very plentiful, fresh warm bread every morning. Nearby is a fantastic vantage point for the valley of the Douro River.

A lovely cabin in a real farm house with some chickens and 3 donkeys. As peaceful as can be expected from a house in the country Great points for tours in the wonderful nature surroundings in and around the Douro River. Gloria, the host was wonderful and the breakfast baskets super generous. Highly recommended.

What a nice experience! Such a beautiful place in a beautiful town and area. And the owner is fantastic! So helpful! We came very late (22:30) and very hungry. The owner took us in his car to a local restaurant and organised food and nice local vine for us. Hopefully we will have another chance to visit that place!

Everything we needed was contained there and the house itself was all we hoped it would be. Felt so comfortable and quiet in a corner of a small village. The unexpected bonus of having sufficient off road parking in an attached garage allowed us to park all 6 motorbikes safely. The friend of the proprietor just next door has perfect French if you don't speak Portuguese, and conversed about us arriving there and showed us the facilities in our rented house and the village.

    Picote is a beautiful historic village with fabulous restored old stone houses. There is also a fabulous scenic overlook over the Douro River which is within easy walking distance from the center of the village. Additionally there is a museum, open in the afternoons, which highlights local products.

    Picote is a traditional village in Tras os Montes with two small cafes but few other modern facilitiies. It is a wonderful place to relax and unwind with fabulous views of the river Douro nearby. The village is in the process of being restored but there are still many houses in ruins. For most of the year it is very quiet but during the summer months when the emigrants return for their holidays and the summer festas it can be very lively. We hope that it will retain its traditional character and hospitality.
