Wow! I didn't really research this place too much, I booked because it was a good price, so I was totally blown away. The view is like no other. The kitchen is excellent. It is right by the popular walking trail and bus stop. Solo travellers be careful around the more remote trails.

Nice for hiking especially the short levada " poiso " way back in the valley ( Faja dos Cardos ) + Terra cha , renember to walk from downstairs to up , that is steep + the road up to Miradouro, ( paved road is situated on your right side , 100 metres from the tunnel entrance on the road to the hotel Eira. Negative : too many restaurant will deny you a " ticket / fatura " receipt. They avoid paying tax, you pay the tax and it goes direct down in the restaurants owners pocket. Shops : The souvenier shop next to Ladeira da igreja too will not give you any recepit so you don't have any guarantee. Avoid this kind.

The staff were extremely helpful to make special arrangements for us The rooms and view unbelievable!! I am not sure if it was at the hotel we contacted a vomitting virus but as soon as we got home we had it for several days. I guess this is very infectious and difficult to control

Curral das ferreiras is very quiet, peacefully and tourist friendly.Ideally if you want the quiet after a day from touring the Island . Definitely you need a car to travel to other places in the Island . We stayed there 3 nights of our holiday that was perfect.

The apartman is very well situated in the middle of village named Curral das Freiras. The whole building is after full reconstruction and therefore the apartman is equiped with the latest modern style furniture and electric devices. We lived on the second floor. I would recommend this apartman for families with enthusiast hikers because it's reallly great starting point. Mrs. Isabel is very polite and she helped me with all my quires. Thank you!

The house is big and spatious, there are two terraces, it has a wonderful view over the valley, and it's in a very calm area. That is all worth driving up there to Curral das Freiras every day (around 25 mins from Funchal). It is also fully equipped, there's probably anything you might need. The owner is very kind and helpful she responds very fast. We would definitely come there again !

A beautiful house in one of the quietest little towns on Madeira. A perfect place for relaxation and enjoying the nature. (please note that Curral das Freiras, as beautiful as it is, may not be greatest choice of base for exploring all of Madeira, as it's sorrounded by mountains and only connected to Funchal to the south)
