The idea of the Te Orange Hau "lodge" is lovely which is why...
The idea of the Te Orange Hau "lodge" is lovely which is why I booked it. But it does not deliver. It was a sham of what was represented on the website. We stayed in the back one bedroom cottage with the bedroom up some narrow stairs with no light at night. The place was dirty with moldy shower curtain shower. In the morning I wakened to rat poo next to my toothbrush. The bathroom is literally "under the stairs". The kitchenette is hardly that. There was an unworkable electric hot plate, a tiny fridge and we absolutely could not "prepare meals" in that kitchen. Good restaurants are at least 20-25 minutes away from Affareaitu. There are 2 cottages in front. I do not know what they are like but the website combines the best pictures of all of them and presents them as the cottage they are offering. This is dishonest. Moorea is a difficult place to find another place to stay when you are under the gun. Luckily we were able to find something else and only had to stay there for 2 miserable nights. Quirky eco lodge. Nice grounds. On a lagoon dropping off to a reef near the shore. Good snorkeling. Used the kyaks. Self catering. Pizza restaurant 5 min away by car. Not 5 star. Good value for money.Guest review byHorsley
