Definitely worth a visit.
Definitely worth a visit. Off the beaten path, but great waves for surfing and excellent food and restaurants. If you want a break from the surf beach La Playita resort (just over the hill/down the road from town) has a protected cove with crystal clear waters and white powder sand. Best of both worlds.

Great surf wave, a compact community yet a wide beach with a corner for everyone from a quiet space to bustle of the bars and restaurants. Everything you need is in one place. Perfect beach to surf, eat, sleep, and repeat. However, if you are looking for a bit more action, you’ll find that, too.

Nice room but furniture a bit outdated.
Nice room but furniture a bit outdated. Lovely pool area with infinity pool and great ocean views. Nice bar and restaurant with super friendly staff. In general terms, there is quite some overdue maintenance.

The perfect vacation for nature lovers—Yoga, relaxation, and surfing. We love the bay, the stunning views, and the peaceful atmosphere. What makes it even more special are the amazing people and the welcoming community that make Playa Venao feel like a home away from home.

The beach was so quiet even though we were there for...
The beach was so quiet even though we were there for carnival week. There were lots of restaurants in the hotels further along the beach and in the village which we found to be excellent.
Villa marina was a lot quieter than the other areas which we preferred but if you’re after nightlife then further along the beach would be better.
There is a small supermarket that sells most things and a launderette if you need it.

I would describe Playa Venao as an oasis.
I would describe Playa Venao as an oasis. My favorite part about my stay was that everyone and everything is walking distance to the beach and each other. The restaurants and grocery are local, which gave me a true taste of Panama. I personally overpacked with clothes, everyone is in their bathing suit all day. I recommend carrying one around always. The sunset is beautiful too.
