The hotel is in the middle of a rain forest. I just kept waiting for a dinosaur to walk by. The staff was AMAZING! Absolutely, exemplary! Five course dinner was delicious and romantic. Breakfast was anything you could dream of!

Scenic Hotel Franz Josef Glacier was temporarily closed at the time we stayed, so we were transfered to Te Waonui Forest Retreat. Everything there was really great.

We loved this cottage as it was so comfortable and had an amazing view of Franz Joseph Glacier. We loved that it was a little out of the main township and in a rural environment. Although it is on the main road which is super quiet at night it is cleverly landscaped to minimise car noise and enhance privacy. It was a great place to have as a base to explore the district.

The apartment was prefect. It was very clean and towels and handwash were provided and you get a great view from the bedroom and living area and we wake up to a clear view of mount cook the next morning. And although we arrive late at night, we didn't have any problem finding our way to the apartment as the owner was very thoughtful to put up sign along the way near the apartment to ensure guest doesn't get lost. Highly recommended!

Well equipped rooms, specious and very clean. The staff were nice and helpful, they give us very good recommendations. Best place to stay, few minute walk from the main road. One of the best stays we have!

58 On Cron is located in the foothills of the Southern Alps. We are just 5 minutes from village centre and the Franz Josef Glacier is a 10-minute drive away.
