Beautiful lake and mountain views.

Beautiful lake and mountain views. It’s an LONG winding mountain road from Queenstown…you wouldn’t want to be commuting back and forth from there (like I thought we were going to do!) Ate dinner at a fabulous Indian and Nepalese restaurant just back from the main road (top ranking restaurant on Trip Advisor). The tree in the lake was a bit of a funny “tourist attraction!”

Wanaka is such a beautiful town ,personally it's my favourite town in the south Island and second favourite town in New Zealand! The lake and view of the mountains from the lake are just beautiful. Lots to do around Wanaka too. I would highly recommend Wanaka to anyone wanting to visit.

We were in Wanaka to hike French Ridge.

We were in Wanaka to hike French Ridge. Unfortunately, the snow line was too low and deep, so we made the call to turn back. It was a 30km day, but we loved being in Mt Aspiring National Park. The following day we hiked Mt Isthmus, a definite leg workout but the views made it worthwhile. Some of our party then took a dip in Lake Wanaka to ease the muscles! There are plenty of food options and bars too within easy reach to suit all pockets. Such a fabulous part of the country.

Very Pretty,lots of places to have a coffee or drinks,enjoyed a drink on the waterfront looking at a amazing view,also scenic drive to Lake Hawea and went as far as the lookout when the road takes you to top of Lake Wanaka.Would of loved to had more time to do some short walks.

Wanaka is a great little town.

Wanaka is a great little town. Primarily a stepping stone to the ski resorts. However we did not go the the resorts. We did do a day trip to Blue Pools and the nearby waterfalls (Thunder falls). the drive was scenic and the pools were well worth having a look at. Thunderfalls is certainly a photo spot as well. We circled back to wanaka and had a look at the Wanaka tree. Its a great picture just prior to sunset as the branches of the tree have and orangy color to them.

I had a wonderful experience at the Hawea Hotel! The view was absolutely breathtaking — the lake and mountain scenery made every moment feel special. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always happy to help and making me feel right at home. The restaurant was another highlight — delicious food with great options and a relaxed atmosphere. Overall, it was the perfect combination of comfort, warmth, and stunning surroundings. I’d definitely recommend Hawea Hotel to anyone visiting the area!

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a great experience with my friend. The rooms were clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed and all the necessary amenities. Each room had its own private bathroom, which was very convenient. The kitchen facilities were also well-equipped, allowing us to prepare meals easily. The staff were friendly and helpful, making check-in and check-out smooth and easy. The location was perfect, close to many restaurants and Wanaka Lake.

Location was great, we got a lake view which was nice. The room had a twin bed plus a single which was well suited for a family of 3. also the hotel is right in the middle of the town, close to the lake and playground. Nice restaurants and bars around.
