SwitzerlandBruce and Teresa are the loveliest and welcoming people. As soon as we arrived Bruce gave us a tour to show us around and it was lovely chatting with both of them. It’s a really small but beautiful place with lots of flowers and plants. There are two bathrooms in a cabin and they are spotless clean. In the kitchen cabin there are also board games and magazines if interested.
Because you are outside of the city you can see the night sky pretty well and do some stargazing.

The lodge is huge and totally private on top of a hill overlooking the valley and the waterfalls.
The hosts Candy & Rawiri went out of their way to show us around the property, including a creek nearby where you can spot the glowworms at night.
It’s a gravel road driving to property from Opononi but it’s well maintained and suitable for 2WD.
Spend at least a couple of nights there, you won’t be disappointed!

Opononi and Omapere are two small seaside towns within a 5km stretch of the west coast of Northland, near the mouth of the Hokianga harbour. The scenery is stunning, but the accommodation and eating options are fairly limited.

I've used this accomodation many times.
I've used this accomodation many times. It's easy to book and is at a reasonable price. I know you need to book early or in advance IN THE HOLIDAYS and when events are on. I booked online from the opononi Pub once. I was lucky to get a room that was available at the time. That's why booking on line is just as good as ringing up. Ownership is changing in July I hope the new owners can maintain the previous owners standards. Always willing to support the accommodation.

We drove to the carpark & walked out to the Point.
We drove to the carpark & walked out to the Point. Lovely views. Spectacular Sand dunes. It was a stop over of 2 days so we could go & play GOLF. RAWENE. Easy to get around Opononi. We had 1 dinner at night at Sands Hotel. Very nice . Awesome staff. Went & had a meal & drink at Opononi Hotel. Staff lovely & helpful.

Rugged, natural, quiet & uncluttered beauty on the west coast.
You don’t go to Opononi/Omapere to shop, its the place to go when you want to find peace, harmony & spirituality.
If you want to get away to relax… this is the place to go!

Great spot, great views of the harbour where ever you stay.
Great spot, great views of the harbour where ever you stay. Nice restaurants, cafes and bars. Has a great little Four Square for shopping. Nearby is a great drive through the Waipoua Forest, visit the great Kauri tree Tane Mahuta - Tane Mahuta is the guardian of the forest and birds.

We stayed on the basis of self catering. What we loved about the property was that it exceeded our expectations. The position is wonderful with immediate access to the beach. Whilst there are very few facilities for us in this location (it didn’t matter as that’s why we chose to stay there) there was a hotel where we ate it and the two nights we were there and that was extremely good. There was a local shop where we go to get supplies. On a five week trip to New Zealand, this was one of the highlights!

After a long emotional day visiting my little brother for his one year memorial it was nice to be able to get my babies n teens back showered cleaned dinner n rest
Attended the opononi restaurant n bar for dinner meals were delicious kids had a ball they even had entertainment raffles n spin the wheel where my family joined the vibe and hospitality from the bar manager staff and locals was amazing it was nice to go have some laughter with the locals n relax n have a bit of fun

Very clean and well appointed property with a lovely homely touch. Stylish decor and comfortable beds. Large deck with fabulous views of the water, dunes and rolling hills. Private but with help on hand for any questions.
Easy to access Opononi by car and explore other parts of this spectacular region.
Definitely recommend.

The villa we stayed in was stylish and spacious.
The dinner menu was good for me ( vegetarian) and my husband (gluten free only). The food was really tasty and nicely presented.

Opononi Lighthouse is in an excellent location and whilst the room is very dated almost kitsch it is spotlessly clean. The owner is also a really lovely lady.
