Tranquil town away from the touristy hubbub of Te Anau but within range to catch the tour to Milford Sound. The Church restaurant served excellent meals at a reasonable price. Manapouri is a breathtakingly beautiful area with a quiet restful atmosphere. There is a lovely restaurant nearby and other food outlets. Lots to do in the area too. There are the day and overnight trips to Doubtful Sound, a stunningly beautiful area that will blow your mind. You do need to book ahead for these trips. Manapouri is a very small, lakefront town that has a beautiful view of Lake Manapouri and the mountains beyond. It also has a fantastic cafe/bar/restaurant called The Church, which I thoroughly recommend. Manapouri is a quiet place with few amenities, does have a church pub restaurant which was great, a must visit . And an antique traders shop and cafe and petrol. Station . The area is very close to the Doubtful Sound cruise terminal, which has cruises daily into Doubtful Sound which takes you across lake Manapouri . It's right on the lake which is beautiful with a stunning view of the mountains. It's in a great location for easy access to Milford Sounds. The room was super cozy and comfortable and was decent sized as well. The communal showers, kitchen, and laundry were all clean and in great shape.
