United StatesThe view is fantastic. The ocean is just out the sliding door and across the road. The road is not heavily traveled, so there is no excessive noise. The bed was probably the best one we have had since coming to New Zealand. I also appreciate that the host told us about several things to do in the local area and set us up for a lot of good excursions.

Kaka point is a perfect base for visiting the Catlins if you have a week because then you can make day trips to the many waterfalls, beaches, lighthouses and historical sites without rushing or getting exhausted. Be captivated by the beauty of the landscape and wildlife, while soaking up the quaint, sleepy town feel of Kaka Point. A lovely beach with a cafe/shop/restaurant so ideal for families. Easy to reach nugget point from there. Bear in mind it’s at the eastern end of the Catlins so if you want to explore places further west, eg Curio Bay, you will have quite a drive. They advised us that there was a microwave in the room and that the local cafe/restaurant was shut on Sundays and Mondays so we could come prepared. We got very tasty ready made meals at New World in Mosgiel before travelling to Kaka Point and they were very tasty and able to be heated up in the microwave. The view from the deck was amazing.
