Kaka point is a perfect base for visiting the Catlins if you have a week because then you can make day trips to the many waterfalls, beaches, lighthouses and historical sites without rushing or getting exhausted. Be captivated by the beauty of the landscape and wildlife, while soaking up the quaint, sleepy town feel of Kaka Point. New Zealand has wonderful wildlife and environmental protection laws for native flora and fauna. If you're looking for an ethical way to see animals in nature, this is the way to do it. A lovely beach with a cafe/shop/restaurant so ideal for families. Easy to reach nugget point from there. Bear in mind it’s at the eastern end of the Catlins so if you want to explore places further west, eg Curio Bay, you will have quite a drive. Very nice, very helpful and very friendly hosts - living in the same building above the unit. Parking available. Everything was great - location, apartment, equipment. Beds were very comfortable.
