We didn’t go into the town of Haast, but were just outside, on the road to Jackson Bay. After the crowds and bustle of other towns, Haast Beach was a welcome change. If you like expansive, empty beaches, with great walkability and rock collecting, this is the experience for you.

A lovely small town on the edge of the Mt Aspiring National...
A lovely small town on the edge of the Mt Aspiring National Park that was a great gateway to all this area has to offer for walking, biking and just enjoying the scenery. Good choices for restaurants, close to a beach and a very neat inviting town.

Not many tourists stop here.
Not many tourists stop here. The Visitors Centre is amazing with a brilliant interpretative display. The drive to Jackson Bay is well worth making the time for to explore the wild Southland areas. Highly recommend the Heartland Hotel for dinner.

Great value for money, great room and very good wifi.
Great value for money, great room and very good wifi. Restaurant on-site excellent. But no kitchen in room, no toaster, no fridge in room (shared fridge in hallway), makes it difficult to have breakfast in your room.

It was a great base to check out South Westland from.
It was a great base to check out South Westland from. We found lots more walks we could have done if we had more days there. Great drive up to Franz Josef and back in a day. The history and geography are amazing. Stunning scenery.

Some really good coastal walks set up by DOC.
Some really good coastal walks set up by DOC. Some great board walks and coastal walks of various lengths. Peaceful area with most tourists not taking advantage of the walks and stopping in car parks for a quick look only. Warning: don't go off road near beachs. We towed someone out of the sand!

We arrived after office hours but the lovely person that was still there opened up and happily helped us to get into our room with everything we needed, it was a dreadful cold and rainy night. The room was very clean, comfortable and warm. I would happily book again in the motels rooms at this facility.
This holiday park is awesome with great ammenities, recreational rooms, well appointed community kitchen and ablution facilities, a variety of accomodation and play areas. Happy to recommend.

Great friendly welcome and super location with units clean and comfortable. Well equipped and parking outside door . Units warm and close to hotel for meals . Our go to motel when we are touring the West Coast. Also able to do our laundry which was a bonus .

Nice room, comfortable and clean, and great meals and drinks at the hotel. Make sure you take a road trip out to Jackson Bay and the Craypot - a stunning and beautifully peaceful place off the beaten tourist track

Track to beach right opposite motel and easy walk to beach. The only disappointment was the amount of dog droppings along the way.

Friendly staff and a lovely pussycat. Motel situated in the sun and the heating was on. Not far to walk to the pub.
