The bakehouse pies are worth queueing for.

The bakehouse pies are worth queueing for. There are a couple of nice shops - not much else there although you could visit the nearby hamlets which looked to have some interesting features. We tried to walk along the river but the path was quite overgrown.

Loved Fairlie Bakery, pies are to die for.

Loved Fairlie Bakery, pies are to die for. Great fashion shops. Loved the new year's day parade, took us back in time. New coffee shop. Good Beans is exceptional. The best coffee and food. The owners know what they are doing.

Fairlie hasnt got buried by tourists yet- it is real and the locals are busy farm folk. There are a couple of good eating places (our favourite is the Library restaurant-changed hands but food still excellent). The supermarket is well stocked. We have done some of the walks with our kids before - the new bike tracks sound interesting-must try them out next time. The information place is a gem with a couple of bubbly ladies with helpful ideas.

Lovely little town away from tourist spots and really good value. Couple of pubs to eat at and a chinese and bakery and supermarket. We used it as a place to have a quiet day before going to Christchurch. Turned out much better than expected and after some rain it was beautiful to see all the snow covered mountains around the town.

Fairlie is a very small village with the main attractions being the alpaca farm (nice for families) and the local pie bakery, which has been hyped in social media. We found the pies being not above average, we had better ones in most places. The best thing about Fairlie was the Fairlie Holiday Park and its comfy rooms.

Fairlie is a cute town that is close to many other places such as Lake Tekapo and Timaru. It has a number of good shops and nice restaurants. When my partner and I came to stay we went to a restaurant called Carnegies and it does quite tasty pizzas. Fairlie Bakehouse is also a good place to stop by but be careful going at lunch time as it was extremely busy when we went at 12pm. We enjoyed reading the little info stands telling you about the history of Fairlie. There's also a place you can stay at (Rollesby accommodation) that has hot tubs, so lovely. Overall, would visit Fairlie again!

First impressions weren't great, its an old building. But the rooms are clean, the bed and its linen are superb, theres nothing not to like. The wc and shower were spotless . I had a drink on the bar and also ate there the Sea food platter was absolutely amazing, so much food for a really great price. The overall menu looked to have many choices. (there seemed to be quite a few meals collected throughout the evening). Free parking on the road directly at the front of the hotel.

Everything. Great location, facilities were great. Owners are lovely. Accommodation was fabulous, a shame we could only stay one night on this occasion. Within walking distance into centre of Fairlie 20 mins. Would recommend Carnegies for food.
