Everything was perfect. There were even six types of wine in the refrigerator that we could purchase at a reasonable price. There were sheep all around, but you couldn't hear them through the well insulated windows. It was really delightful.

House was perfect for our family of 5 (3 teenage girls) and had everything we needed. I was worried about the cold coming from Perth but the bedding was super cosy and warm and the house warmed quickly with the split AC/heater. We loved our stay in Ashburton - Weka Retreat and would stay here again in a heartbeat. You can tell the hosts take pride in the property, its beautifully renovated and furnished with finishing touches. Thanks Mel!

    Pleasant and friendly country city with easy access and roads. Quality shopping and food outlets. Close to rivers, lake and mountains and handy on why to Dunedin. Two very interesting museum - aviation and old world. The park gardens are superb for walks and picnic.

    We were surprised that Ashburton had the variety of shops, with the normal nationwide big box type outlets, but to my wife's delight was also well served by boutique local outlets, that seemed to be well supported by the locals. It was also notable to see that most of the Banks were located back from the main shopping areas, this shows that retailers are able to afford the prime positions and means a healthy town center.

    Ashburton is roughly half way between the top and bottom of the South Island, so is a good place to stay if you are driving between the top and bottom of the South Island. Much easier and safer than trying to drive the length of the island in one day.

    Love Ashburton. A wonderful place to visit.

    Love Ashburton. A wonderful place to visit. Go to the Library, get a Latte from the Cafe there, and a Cheese Roll, go to the Art Gallery, Domain Park, Retro stores, local shops, Antique Store and amazinf clothing stores, Basilica, Coronation Park Accomodation was wonderful, all the locals were lovely, Street Art! Custard Square from Couplands, so many lovely places to eat. Will have to return to spend more time there.

    Ashburton is a rural town on State Highway 1 which is often overlooked as a place to stay. However the Southern Alps are half an hour away, there is the Ashburton river, and the coast nearby. This is a peaceful town.

    We liked the convenience of having a cabin where we didn't need to bring anything. The pond was really lovely and we enjoyed feeding the ducks (poohs were a bit smelly and sticky though) and playing on the playground. It was a long way out of town though. Going to the toilet in the night was dark and uncovered and the door in the cabin was very noisy and hard to shut.

    The room was exceptionally clean and tidy. Comfortable bed (which is a massive for us travelling all the time). Good blackout curtains. Facilities were as they should be. Plenty of channels on the tv and the tv being placed well in the room. Excellent water pressure and temperature with the shower. The owners are friendly and relaxed. Double glazed windows etc etc etc. Will definitely be staying here again next time we visit Ashburton.

    Good location on East St and easy to find when driving south into Ashburton. The complex is built around a garden courtyard allowing easy access, good sun and pleasant views. The room was very spacious, comfy sofa and beds, and all looking in good order. Pet friendly operation which was key for us, relocating with a cat. Would definitely stay again when in Ashburton. 10 / 10

    Lovely bolt hole on the outskirts of Ashburton. As description says it's small and the private bathroom requires you to walk outside into the main house, however it's very cosy and ideal for a single person who is out and about most of the day. They are building a larger cabin with ensuite facilities so look out for that. And the host is very friendly.

    Very clean and comfortable. Great appliances and all the pots and cutlery that is needed. Spa bath was great. Room was modern and very well set up. Great size TV with all the usual Apps. Felt very welcome by friendly accommodating staff. Would absolutely recommend Taylor's Motel and would stay here whenever we are in Ashburton.
