I stumbled upon this accommodation by chance, but I absolutely loved it. The place isn't large, but it is very comfortable and cosy. I did enjoy the breakfast. The B&B is on the outskirts of Meppel, so it is easy to walk in nature. The room is clean, and the bathroom is nice. The rooster mentioned in the description woke up at a reasonable time, so I did not mind at all.

Location and staff! The team went out of their way to ensure we had a good stay. Before arrival, communication was excellent and due to flight delays took away our worries. The restaurant is a must do as well (make a reservation as highly popular) and the breakfast was great too. We were spoiled! Highly recommend a stay and a next time will stay a bit longer. The area has lots to offer.

We absolutely loved everything about the owner and the house! The place is beautifully decorated and feels so cozy. The kitchen was well-equipped, so we could even cook our own dinner. The bed was huge and super comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious — we couldn’t even finish it because the portion was so generous! 🤭

Meppel is a really nice town in Drenthe.

Meppel is a really nice town in Drenthe. Come here for a taste of the real Netherlands - well away from the tourists. There are a few museums, boats to look at (as everywhere!), lots of cafes and restaurants (don't miss Sardinia in the town square), but the best thing to do is just wander the streets soaking up the atmosphere.

Meppel is a quiet town located in bucolic surrounding.

Meppel is a quiet town located in bucolic surrounding. Despite some bulk agribusiness on the outskirts, Meppel retains a pleasant pedestrianised centre. It is located on the long-distance cycle route LF9 and the spectacular village of Giethoorn is 35 mins cycling away. The De Weerribben-Wieden National Park borders the outskirts of the town and Dwingelderveld National Park is less than an hour away on the bike.

A nice town with park, with a lots of terraces.

A nice town with park, with a lots of terraces. We walked to the centre for dinner and it was smelling barbecue and that made my husband very happy. Train station, bus station, taxi. Easy to find parking space for your car.

Meppel is a fantastic little town and makes a great base.

Meppel is a fantastic little town and makes a great base. We went cycling in the Weerribben/Wieden region one day, and the other day we cycled in the Reestdal valley. And if we'd had more time, we probably would have gone to Dwingeloo.

I visited Meppel after reading enthusiastic reviews on a few travel websites. Unfortunately, I can't share these positive impressions. I found Meppel unimpressive and rather dull. As a shopping town, it's certainly a success, but that wasn't my reason for coming. Furthermore, you can enjoy some delicious ice cream there.

A very friendly welcome with coffee.

A very friendly welcome with coffee. However, the room turned out to be a "studio," which is actually called an apartment. When booking, we were under the impression we were booking a hotel room, but unfortunately, this wasn't the case. We could, however, rebook for an additional fee of approximately 70 euros.
