FAQs about hotels in Amsterdam

The Best Culture and Nightlife this Side of a Canal

Jump on your city bike or hop on a canal boat and admire Amsterdam, the Venice of the North! The beautiful city houses, romantic bridges, iconic canals and street cafés create its unique atmosphere and give you an ultimate taste of its fascinating past.

Famous for its museums, most important of which are located in the Museumplein, Amsterdam offers you a chance to see unforgettable masterpieces by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Mondriaan and more. The Anne Frank House is a sobering reminder of the city’s more recent history. After a lot of walking, the Rijksmuseum is a great place to rest and get some extra culture before visiting Amsterdam’s lovely Vondelpark.

The medieval Old Centre with the always busy Dam Square and the tempting Red Light District is the most visited part of Amsterdam. Make sure to stop at Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein, homes to the best nightlife venues.

Shop till you drop at Amsterdam’s most luxury shopping street, PC Hooftstraat, the most popular street market at Albert Cuyp or in the fancy design shops of the Jordaan district. Famous pancakes and frites with mayonnaise are a must-try! The more adventurous traveller might want to try the pickled herring, followed closely by a local beer.

All these attractions are just a short train ride from the Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. Whether you want to stay at a cosy hotel on a canal, a modern apartment in a quiet part of the city or a room in the centre of everything, Booking.com has a perfect accommodation for your Amsterdam vacation.

We loved the canals, the dancing houses, the people of Amsterdam, the amount of bicycles everywhere, the easy to use metro, and the open air markets. The only thing that we didn't care for was the subtle smell of marijuana in the streets around the Centraal Station. But that is part of the Amsterdam experience just like the canals!

Always one of my favorite cities in Europe, clean, friendly and always lots of people enjoying all the things Amsterdam has to offer. Canals, historic buildings, plenty of shops and museums to visit. A canal cruise on a sunny afternoon is something not to be missed, always something new that you have not noticed previously. Loads of Restaurants from many countries from Argentina to Indonesia, Italy to Japan, something to suit every Taste. Another thing not to be missed are classic Dutch French Fries with their very special mayonnaise, or a kaleidoscope of other sauces. Plenty of nightlife with bars to suit every taste and streets of shops selling everything from souvenirs to Primark if you're feeling homesick, and of course the red light district if you are feeling adventurous.

Amsterdam is a must visit city as it has something for almost everyone (not seen much for children) I have now been about 8 times and each time I have a new experience as I uncover a part of the city I have not seen before. There is a hop on hop off bust tour you can take around the city but you must go to Anne Frank's house which is the top attraction in Amsterdam. Trams are everywhere so it is easy to get about and for those who want to feel the wind in their faces you can also hire a bike.

Amsterdam is simply a lovely city, from the water channels to the beautiful architecture. My favorite experience was the tour through the channels. Getting around Amsterdam is very easy, as the city is very well connected with metro, train and other types of transportation options.

Amsterdam changes on the weekend.

Amsterdam changes on the weekend. Every hostel / hotel becomes super greedy putting their prices up , double triple even quasruple The staff get ruder. The owners get greedier. They have euros in their eyes instead of human beings. Go to amsterdam mon- thur its a much nicer place

A very beautiful city for every tourist.

A very beautiful city for every tourist. The Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, and the old city are worth any penny. We eat at Italian restaurants and Argentine restaurants around Centraal Station, and in Rokin. Getting around Amsterdam is very easy using a travel pass from as many days your stay in Amsterdam. Just scan it when in hop in and when you get out of any means of transportation.

In the east docklands so a bit far from the main part of Amsterdam but it exposes you to a new area and you can get the tram into the museum area and city centre. The hotel itself is a no frills style hotel. The staff at reception were really friendly and we sampled the drinks and food in the bar area which were of a high standard. Not often you’d get a pool in a hotel but I used it twice and was nice and clean. Out the front of the property you stare directly into the water which is nice. Would I stay here again? Yes I would.

I had previously worked in this part of Amsterdam and appreciated that it was well connected to the city centre by train/tram. The actual area has changed but the transport was spot-on. The hotel was good value when compared to hotels located within the centre. It was also easily accessible for the airport.

Everything from A-Z. Location wasn't near to central but still I loved the district. Very near to stations so it'll still easy to get to the city centre. Room was awesome, clean & air conditioned. Staff was helpful and easy to talk to. I would favor XO hotels again If i'm to visit Amsterdam again!
