It's a properly rustic paradise area, away from the more fabricated hotel resorts. Lots of locals who know one another and it feels safe, if a little rough around the edges. It has its own cultural and geographical charm that seems to differentiate it from other parts of Mauritius. Lots of places to eat, a good supermarket - seems expensive for the area, but I think this is quite common. Good offers of boat hire to get over to Ile aux Benitiers, which is well worth it. Close proximity to the lovely Morne peninsular and Black River Gorges National Park and surrounds.

La Gaulette does not have a beach and the sea there is ugly.

La Gaulette does not have a beach and the sea there is ugly. Le Morne (which is very close) is the only place nearby with a nice beach, but it is widely occupied by luxury hotels. another problem with La Gaulette is that it is not usable as a base for visiting Mauritius, becasue is far away from all main attractions except 7 color earth and Black River falls.

An ideal place to visit La Morne and surrounding areas without the crowds. Nearby supermarket for groceries and restaurants. We had a car which made travelling around easier and i would reccommend getting one when coming to Mauritius as you see so much more

Close to Le Morne and other attractions and places worth visiting, 90 min drive to Port Louis. Island is a paradise for botanical enthusiasts, hikers, climbers, fans of all sorts of water sports and beautiful reef fish, encounters with whales, dolphins etc.very friendly lovely locals and I felt very safe at all times, safer than in European many places. Please do book with local people, not all inclusive international resorts without local feel.

The clear water at the beach was exelent. The clearest seewater I have seen on the hole island! The surounding with the mountains are great. The beach is clean. No waist is liing around. Kite surfing ist also the place to be! Restaurant Chalets Chamarel has a great view. Hard to find. Food to expensive and not good!!

not a typical tourist destination. However, great spot for trips and quiet place to chill before trips around the island - which is pretty easy to travel around. Great choice for families and backpackers like myself

It is a lovely house with 2 apartments. We had the upper level. It is spacious with a lovely terrace. We really liked the location to visit the south-west of Mauritius. They are some nice restaurants and a supermarket in walking distance of the house and Le Morne is a 10 min drive. The owners were super friendly. They cleaned the apartment every 2 days which was perfect for us. I would definitely recommend the place as the price was right as well.

The flat is spacious, spotless clean and has everything you need. The bed is comfy and we slept really well. The AC works well too. It is well located, especially as we went for a hike at Le Morne and often went to Le Morne beach. Vinesh and his family are extremely kind and Vinesh offered lots of advice on what to do in Mauritius. They also kindly offered us the best samoussas we've had so far! I highly recommend staying at Ebony :)

The apartment was very spacious, the bed was comfortable, the kitchen is very well equipped. Multiple standarad capable power converters, were available in all power outlets. The view to the La Morne was amazing, neighbourhood is silent, the maid was there for us during the morning, so if we needed anything she helped us. Bianca, who checked us in, was able to help us in anything that was Mauritius related.

Best location in Mauritius 🦤 super close to everything from the mountain trails, snorkeling with turtles, dolphin snorkeling, kite surfing, the viewpoint restaurant, the mountain pass, Charmel wine and mountain route.
