Fabulous room, with all modern touches and facilities in the Palazzo, all within the centre of Mdina. Omar was a very welcoming host and all the staff were very helpful and attentive also. Breakfast was delicious and we were delighted with this location for exploring Mdina. We had to leave in the middle of the night due to an early flight but Omar had given us a packed breakfast to bring along which we were very grateful for.

As someone with a deep love for history, I chose this boutique hotel because of its beautifully preserved heritage, and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is steeped in character, yet nothing feels outdated—there is a seamless blend of past and present, where modern comforts enhance rather than overshadow the building’s soul. I felt as though I was living in history, not merely observing it, and that is what made my stay truly special. Comfort is never compromised in this historic setting. While I have stayed in old properties before, they often come with practical challenges, but Howard House Hotel is designed with every convenience in mind. The spacious lift was a wonderful surprise, making access to all levels effortless, allowing me to enjoy every part of the hotel without a second thought. My room was luxurious yet understated, offering everything one would expect from a five-star hotel, from plush bedding to thoughtful touches like a fully stocked mini-bar and a coffee machine. The blend of historic charm with modern luxury is what sets this place apart—nothing felt overly polished or sterile, yet everything was elegant and immaculately kept. The highlight of my stay, however, was the time I spent on the upper terrace, where I lost myself in the spectacular 360-degree views. I watched the sunset from this perfect vantage point, completely mesmerised by the changing colours of the sky and the timeless beauty of the city beyond. It was a moment of peace and reflection, where I could take in the landscape as so many before me must have done over the last century and a half. This is a hotel that doesn’t just offer comfort—it offers a deep sense of place, of continuity, and of connection to the past.

Such a beautiful city with amazing buildings within the medieval old capitol. It's busy with tourists during the day and would highly recommend returning in the evening when it's so eerily quiet, but amazing. We ate in a rooftop restaurant, The Knights Kitchen so we could see the amazing sunset over Mdina. There are horse and carts to take you around, but we walked and enjoyed the tiny alleyways. Stunning city

We visited on a Sunday which felt very special. We were able to wander round and barely see anyone else, truly a step back in time. We ate at Coogis in the evening , which was delicious and thoroughly recommend. A treat to visit the town when so quiet

A delightful small, quiet city....it was nice to stay within...

A delightful small, quiet city....it was nice to stay within the walls of the city for the nighttime experience. It became the silent city. not a lot to see, but what is there was interesting. Rabat is literally a short walk across a pedestrian friendly bridge with lots of activity. Certainly Mdina is worth a visit.

The property is located opposite the mdina gate and very close to the bus terminal and restaurants. The property was beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean. It boasts a jacuzzi and top deck with views from the roof over Mdina. Bus connections here are super easy and plentiful to Valletta and surrounding areas. Grace in particular, who prepared breakfast was wonderful and could not do enough for us. A wonderful holiday made better by the Howard House Hotel team.

Wonderful welcome from Anita, and excellent first impressions of our room and the small boutique hotel. Very personal service, lovely breakfast, and great location to access Mdina and explore Rabat. We had the ground floor room with the small courtyard, which was a lovely spot to enjoy a quiet coffee. Both members of staff were lovely and made you feel welcome.

Fabulous hotel in wonderful building right in the old city of Mdina. Very comfortable room - especially the bed. Lovely kind attentive staff. Delicious breakfast. Great communal spaces with superb views in every direction right across the island.
