We enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Xara Palace. Great location in an authentic luxurious building, decorated with respect its history. The room was impeccable and provided great comfort with outstanding beds. The breakfast was exquisite, being served in the restaurant overlooking the great landscape. We had dinner at the Medina restaurant, affiliated to the hotel and situated in the center of Medina. A great spot with excellent Maltese food. All staff were great, but special thanks to Matthias from front desk who has been really authentic in making our stay such a great memory.

Every inch of the space exudes elegance, from the carefully preserved 150-year-old architectural details, including the charming "garigor" staircase, to the incredible collection of original contemporary art—some of which were created by the host herself. The attention to detail is simply unmatched, making this boutique hotel a true hidden gem. A Room That Redefines Five-Star Luxury The moment I opened the door to my room, I was blown away by the level of luxury. The bedding and linens were absolute perfection, soft and crisp, making for an incredibly restful night’s sleep. The pillow menu was a particularly thoughtful touch, ensuring that every guest finds their perfect level of comfort. The room was designed with true five-star indulgence in mind—a fully stocked mini-bar, an impressive wine menu, and a sleek coffee station complete with a high-end coffee machine ensured I had everything I needed at my fingertips. The bathrobes and slippers added a touch of luxury, and the in-room safe provided extra peace of mind. There is an amazing heated pool on the roof of the building, which, thanks to the heating, can be used by any weather. Another indoor pool with whirlpool option is available in the basement floor. On the same floor there is also fitness room located. It is small but you can find all what is required in there. It is all done with love, the staff is very friendly. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The towels are soft and of a good quality. In rooms you can find the coffee machine and the teamaker.

A fantastic place to stay. It’s in a lovely residential area which is very central to both harbours (about 8mins walk to both). We had the penthouse for the week which was brilliant. The hot tub was lovely to sit in on an evening and have a glass of wine. There’s a mini bar which is not expensive. There’s a microwave/grill to warm any food. There’s no washing machine but there is a laundry service. The staff are very good and very friendly and the hotel is immaculately clean. We cannot fault this hotel and will be returning.

Such a beautiful city with amazing buildings within the medieval old capitol. It's busy with tourists during the day and would highly recommend returning in the evening when it's so eerily quiet, but amazing. We ate in a rooftop restaurant, The Knights Kitchen so we could see the amazing sunset over Mdina. There are horse and carts to take you around, but we walked and enjoyed the tiny alleyways. Stunning city

We visited on a Sunday which felt very special. We were able to wander round and barely see anyone else, truly a step back in time. We ate at Coogis in the evening , which was delicious and thoroughly recommend. A treat to visit the town when so quiet

A delightful small, quiet city....it was nice to stay within...

A delightful small, quiet city....it was nice to stay within the walls of the city for the nighttime experience. It became the silent city. not a lot to see, but what is there was interesting. Rabat is literally a short walk across a pedestrian friendly bridge with lots of activity. Certainly Mdina is worth a visit.

I've never stayed in a hotel quite like this one. It was scenic and very regal within the Palace. The surrounding area is breathtaking. You can't help but want to learn all about the history of Malta. We thoroughly enjoyed that our room was set over 2 floors. It made it that much special. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. Breakfast was excellent. The best hot chocolate I've ever had.

Perfect location to reach by bus or taxi and you couldnt ask for a better spot to be to visit Mdina's old city and surrounds. Whilst only booked for 1 night the friendly owner and host Mariella was very helpful and accommodating. Great continental breakfast and outstanding terrace to chill out on before we had to leave. Boutique style hotel exudes class and sophistication.

Great location, right in the enter of the old city of Mdina. the house was very spacious with had plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. A full sized refrigerator was definitely a plus.
