We were there 4 nights during off season. There is not much to do there in July. Especially with kids. Since the sea was to rough to swim in! Lots of wind and felt a bit like a ghost town to us. Fortunately the place is not in the city of Wellgama which is bery busy, crowdy and noisy city. Weligama is an absolute gem for travelers! Whether you're chasing waves or simply looking for a peaceful escape, this place has it all. The beach is fantastic for surfing, with great waves for both beginners and pros, while also offering calm spots perfect for relaxation. The sunrises and sunsets here are truly breathtaking, making every moment by the ocean magical. The town itself is warm and welcoming, with friendly locals, great food, and a laid-back vibe. The only minor downside is the occasional plastic waste, but with more awareness and local efforts, this paradise can be even better. It was large, very clean and since it was our honeymoon the staff left a 'happy honeymoon' message in petals on the bed. They also left us a complimentary chocolate cake. The hotel was perfect to immerse ourselves on the beach for a couple of days. It's located in a small quite village between Wiligama and Midigama, a walk distance from the Fishermen beach and very reachable from the main road. I enjoyed having a kitchen (because in many hostels in Sri Lanka there's not).
