The staff at this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning and loved the convenient location faced to beautiful paddy field. Top tip : Hotel owner Mrs.Dilhani arranged our Safari and made us delicious breakfast packed in a containers to carry with us while on safari.We had an absolutely brilliant day and I would love to recommend White House Inn - Thissamaharama to other travellers. Arriving at Art Yala my mouth fell open. Located at the lake with a beautiful terrace and the interior design could be found in a magazine. With the most delicious vegetarian rice & curry, a bathroom like a ballroom hall and a bed where you never want to come out made clear that my stay was too short. And the safari with the best and most friendly guide Dulitha made it complete. Thank you!

Gem of a place. As mentioned in other reviews the rooms are basic BUT comfortable and clean. For the price they are more than perfect. The setting itself was wonderful - right by the lake, surrounded by wildlife. In the evening, the host took us by tuktuk/scooter for a free tour of the lakes where we saw varans, bats, many birds including two beautiful owls !, and even a (harmless) snake. I booked my Yala safari with the host the day before and we could tell that the driver was more experienced than others. We saw all the wildlife one could see in Yala - leopards, crocodiles, varans, many birds, elephants, mongooses and even a sloth bear ! Perfect place, I'm happy I choose it.

Beautiful place, well maintained grounds. Comfortable lakefront homes with a lovely porch with a beautiful view of the lake. Very caring and attentive host and staff. The breakfast is superb, the most delicious coconut pancakes. We also ordered dinner which was served to us on the veranda, the food was great and so was the service. I recommend this place!

What a special place! The staff was exceptional. It is small, and the staff really take notice of how to make everything amazing. It was my husband's birthday - and I emailed them - just letting them know. They decorated the bed, and then surprised him with a special dessert and candle, etc. They arranged our safari, and packed a bag for us when we left at 5am. (And we saw leopards and elephants!) The food was great and the beds and linens - top notch. We loved every minute of our 2 night stay. Highly recommend this when staying near Yala!

This is the place that exceeds your expectations! All the reviews that you read is not too good to be true- it’s a real reflection from people that experienced the stay at the Elegant Lake House. From the first step you’re greeted by Randy and his exceptional service. The property is beautiful, surrounded by nature- perfect place to relax and disconnect. We definitely suggest to stay more than one night if you can, because we promise you won’t want to leave. Randy has a lot of knowledge to share about his village and nature and he gladly does it for his guests by showing around. The food that they prepare is delicious! The rooms are very well equipped, super clean and new. So, if you’re reading this review- don’t think any more and book your stay at Elegant Lake House. It’s a true example of hospitality! We’re grateful for Randy’s and his family’s dedication to provide the best time for us. Thank you!

The White House Inn is a fantastic place to stay in...

The White House Inn is a fantastic place to stay in Thissamaharama. It’s situated in a calm and natural setting, making it perfect for relaxation. The inn is also very close to the Yala National Park, which is great for those looking to go on safari. The hotel is clean and comfortable, providing a welcoming atmosphere. The spacious lobby area is a nice spot to unwind. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, offering excellent service throughout our stay. One of the highlights was the food. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner, and the Sri Lankan dishes were absolutely delicious. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at the White House Inn and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
