The rustic charm and quirkiness of the treehouse exceeded expectations. The staff we’re fantastic and took us on a private safari in Udawalawe (about 25 minutes away) where we got so close to the elephants. They also arranged a guided canoe trip on the nearby lake - sadly no bathing elephants this time but plenty of other wildlife to see. The evening meal we had there was perhaps the best curry I have ever eaten and all of this at exceptionally good prices. We spoke to several people who went to Yala and spent far more, saw far less and didn’t seem get anywhere near the experience we did.

We had a relaxing two days in nature at the homespun Glimra eco lodge on our way to Uda Walawe safari park. It was great to meet and chat to our helpful and attentive hosts Roshani and Nishanka, who are at the beginning of their journey making a larger lodging ground, and it was special to stay in their first house made by Nishanka himself. We enjoyed our afternoon canoe ride by a local fisherman, and spotting birds and animals by the lake

‘The perfect place to stay before or after a safari when visiting udawalawe. Wonderful Tree Hose Iya very clean and beautiful. Ahan and his family are great hosts, we did the safari with Shan too and had an unforgettable time! Highly recommend!!!

This stay was a great experience! The accommodation is a beautiful oasis, and the cottage was very modern and clean. Communication online was good. Leel adviced us to do an afternoon safari instead of morning. Happy we listened to him! We saw around 40 elephants, a crocodile and many other animals. The food prepared by Leels mother was the best we have had in Sri Lanka, both dinner and breakfast. Such a lovely woman! The driving that Leel arranged was in a modern, compact minivan, with belts and aircondition. Driven by his nephew in a safe manner. He picked us up in Ella, and drove us to Yala. The day after he also drove us to next location. Incredibly kind. Bring bug spray!!

The stay was absolutely perfect! I wouldn’t change one thing about this place. We stayed for one night and from start to finish, the service and hospitality was exceptional, we were truly treated like family. The food was cooked fresh to order and absolutely divine, and we were fed until we couldn’t eat any more! The bed was super comfy and all the bathroom facilities were really good. The safari was great too. I don’t often write reviews but this place deserves one! The owner even called to speak to us just before we left to make sure we had a good stay!

I was choosing accomodation in Udawalawe very carefully becouse we wanted to have a really nice time there. Luckily I ended up with Wild Lake Side becouse this place is amazing! Extremely nice and friendly owner, amazing new room with spectacular river view, delicious dinner and great safari experience. We booked safari tour here and our driver was amazing! He did a really great job and thanks to him and his experiences, we saw many animals. I recommend to book 7 hours safari. We were worried if it is not too long but it wasn't. We had enough time to just watch animals and no rush like other jeeps with 4 hours safari and also had amazing breakfast in the national park which was one of the nicest memory. We regret we didn't stay longer.
