This place is worth not just a detour but the whole trip to Sri Lanka. The road to get there from St Clair is a breathtaking ride through the tea plantations. The resort is beautifully designed and well kept. We received a free upgrade and our rooms had floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the jungle and a river valley down below. Every detail of the décor of the rooms is tastefully picked and the result is elegant without pretense. The food was interesting, good and fairly priced, and served on a beautiful deck with a vista. The staff was friendly and helpful. We truly enjoyed our stay and it will remain a high point in our two-week visit of Sri Lanka. Incidentally, it is a steal!

What a seriously magical place! Coming from busy Colombo and finally breathing again in the middle of those giantic green mountains. The little house we were living in was the ideal place to calm down, to relax and to reconnect with the beauty of nature. No pool? No problem! The fresh water stream with crystal clear and cooling water (which is 1min by feet far of the accommodation) is way better than every pool we could have asked for. With little curious fishes inside, that will give you a normally expensive paid treatment. In the area are also waterfalls and plenty of possibility to hike. But come with a scooter or anything, otherwise you will depending on tuk tik, which is neither a problem, as there are always plenty of them waiting to bring you anywhere. But what we really loved the most is the beautiful manager, that became within 2 days like a friend. A young well english speaking and always caring, lady that lives with her family over there. As I was sick when I arrived she prepared even an ayurvedic treatment for me, a hot inhalation with herbs of the property. Another day she joined us for a little exploration and acted as our personal photographer. We had so much fun! And we seriously gonna miss her and her amazing property. Her mom is the cooking chef and performs every breakfast and dinner some magic in the kitchen. They also cared for some special requests and I enjoyed all the food they served us sooooo much! Amazing resort that is really entwined with nature. Not sure how it isn't more well known considering the value for money you get and the social mission the owner is on to improve livelihoods for local people in nearby villages. Whoever designed this place really has an eye for detail to allow you to experience luxury while still being immersed in the natural forest. We stayed in the balcony room and still have this amazing memory of sitting on the balcony (which is also equipped with a lovely ceiling fan, table and traditional chairs) during a rain storm and seeing the mist roll through the valley while listening to the sounds of the forest awoken by the rain. It was magical. The rooms are very clean and well maintained and I didn't see any critters which was hard to believe considering how close to the forest you are. There is a private track leading to a peaceful swimming hole in the nearby river which we had all to ourselves. Just me mindful of leeches if it's been raining. In regards to the food, we ordered a traditional rice and curry that wasn't actually on the menu but it was delicious. If you're Lankan or love spice, maybe just ask for local-level hot otherwise they will serve it mild. The service overall is very kind and attentive, proud to see this in Sri Lanka. Next time we will stay in the private villas as they look stunning with their private pools along with mini rivers running adjacent to the room. The magnificent Arberdeen waterfall is also a short tuk tuk drive away. I was a little worried in one review saying the place smelled overwhelming of Naphthalene but I didn't smell anything so maybe they changed something.

It was very good accomodation. We lived next to the river in the jungles in big rooms. We looked at the stars and heared the sound of the river from our balcony in the night. We had very delicious lunch and dinner. It was very friendly owner. He told us a lot of interesting information and organised for us amazing water adventures.
