Out of the few capital cities I've visited, I found Seoul to likely be one of the most overrated (a slight bit above Paris maybe). The food is great, the subway network is fast, fairly priced and very convenient, but other than that there is very little that made me think that was worth coming. And while most of the people are about as nice as anywhere else, there are quite a number of pretty rude people or a number of situations where a sort of "me first" mentality shows up (queue skipping, rushing to seats in the subway...) and can be quite annoying depending on where you come from.

It is clean, easy and culturally interesting. Food is good and coffee is great. We liked art installations in city. Under the road walkway was amazing with sights, sounds and smells. You can get around on the metro easily, or walk.

There are so much to do..

There are so much to do.. Excellent beauty care centers from Hair shop to facial / body spas. And so many different Korean restaurants to explore. Beyond that.. this city offers so many different cultural experiences that I need to stay longer or couple more visits in the future.

Koreans need to develop graciousness.

Koreans need to develop graciousness. They are very rude, drivers are horrible and paints a bad picture of the country. Need to have public signs in English and Korean. Food was awesome. There was jam everywhere even during the weekends. Government needs to something about it. Implement COE, ERP and control the vehicle population.

To get a feel for Seoul, you easily need 3-4 days.

To get a feel for Seoul, you easily need 3-4 days. The city is so big that when you look at the map, it seems like everything is close together, but I think it takes about 2 hours to cross the city from one end to the other, and that's not on foot. It's really crazy how many people (tourists) are out and about. However, it's very safe and the people are also super friendly. Seoul has a lot to offer and I was only able to get a small impression of it.

In all honesty I didn’t feel that Seoul is actually worth visiting as a tourist, nor does it feel very accommodating to tourists. Although their public transport is very good, the city is still too car centric (sometimes you’ll struggle to even find a way to cross their highway-like streets). Myeong-dong, although vibrant, is actually annoying to walk around, the food vendors take too much space and the food they sell is average at best. Gangnam is simply a financial district with almost nothing for a tourist to do and that library is definitely not worth visiting. Hongdae was nice for a change. Furthermore for some inexplicable reason nobody can walk in a straight line so prepare yourself for constant dodging manoeuvres if you don’t want to keep bumping into people. Everybody looks annoyed and grumpy including the taxi drivers. People rush in the subway trains without waiting for everyone to get off and nearly everybody constantly spits in the designated smoking areas (that was really quite disgusting). The only thing that I would honestly recommend doing is visiting the DMZ which was definitely a valuable experience and our guide there was incredible. I don’t want to be rude but I left the country mostly feeling sorry for the life that Koreans live which is not the feeling you want to have when leaving a highly developed country.

The location is one of the best in Seoul. From a travelling standpoint, Seoul is divided into a few areas such Hongdae for the exciting student vibe, Myeongdong for shopping, Gangnam for the glitz and Ferraris, Itaewon for foodies, Insadong Seoul for a traditional vibe and so on. Mercure has the absolute best location for Hongdae, just a minute’s walk from the station and central to all the action without any compromise.

Situated right above the Gongdeok station which is on the airport train line, the staff were lovely, helpful and could communicate in English very well. The room was so spacious with a very large bathroom with a separate bath and overhead shower. I was able to store my large luggage at the hotel for 3 days as I had two reservations planned on either side of a weekend in Busan. It was my best hotel stay in Korea.

The stay was awesome. Owner was very pleasant and communicative (he let us store our luggae before check-in!). Metro line number 2 right next to the hotel saved our time in Seoul. The area was amazing, I couldn't ask for more! I recommend this object for sure. Maybe someday I will comeback here while in South Korea.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Daily housekeeping. Close to everything. Highly recommended for people like me, who loves reading negative reviews before deciding where to stay. I didn't regret my decision. One of the best modern hotels in Seoul with a reasonable price, if you book early.

Look if you want super basic! A hard bed but a hot shower and 1/2 price of anywhere else take it! Accommodations are expensive in Korea so it’s cheap without going hostel, but no where near luxury stay I’d give it like 2 star hotel if your lucky
