East Guest House is more than just a place to lay your head - it’s a generous, welcoming home. From the moment you arrive, you’re scooped up and embraced like a long-lost family member. Rooted in sustainability and deep respect for the land, everything you eat here is grown or raised on the property. The butter, cream, and ayran come from the family’s cows. The meat is from sheep that roam freely in the mountains from April to September - so you can eat with the comforting knowledge that the animals have lived happy, natural lives. Gulzat will feed you exceptionally well; her cooking is on a whole new level of delicious. In summer, she might take you into the mountains to forage for herbs to make tea, or teach you how to make kurut by hand. You can ride horses with the young (and very cool) boys of the household. Or, if you’re more into culture and craft, meet one of the village’s Manas tellers, the keepers of the Kyrgyz epic, who recite the tale in a trance-like state. You can also visit local craftswomen who create stunning embroidery and patchwork quilting. I was lucky enough to cook often with Gulzat…fresh ayran from cows we milked together, outdoor plov, pirozhki, katama, samsa… every moment in the kitchen was a joy. The village of Tigermenti is breathtaking. It is surrounded by snow-capped mountains draped in what looks like green velvet. If you’re feeling brave, take a dip in a mountain stream; or, if you’re more like me, just dip your toes in! A magical place. I didn’t want to leave - and I absolutely can’t wait to return.

The host is very nice and helps with everything you need, the house is clean and tidy, there are nice places to sit, good value for the price.

There was a little bit of confusion when we arrived but within minutes we felt right at home! The property was very cosy and the hospitality matched the feeling. As soon as we came in we were welcomed with tea and appetisers. The room we stayed in was very clean and warm. It really felt like a night away at your favourite grandparents home!

A cozy and nice place for a short stay, friendly hosts, they treated us as if we were in our house, very generous, food was authentic, organic and delicious. The nature around the guest house is fantastic. The yurt tent is nice.
