If you wish to immerse yourself in a true Japanese experience then this is the hotel for you. Everyone walks around in their Japanese pjs, no shoes allowed inside and the onsen is wonderful - especially the private one. Staff are very friendly and helpful. There are also icecreams, beef skewers and ramen as treats! We loved our experience

The room was super spacious - the biggest one on our trip to Japan. I slept on the japanese style matress on the floor and it was super confortable. They have a very well equiped kitchen. And they offer a few drinks, jam, bread, and also 1 curry and rice per person, which was really nice. They have a beatiful and very helpful handmade guide for shirakawago, that stays on the main table - we used it to find good restaurants, attractions, and also learned about the history of the village. The isolation from the cold was very good - but I don't know if we could avaluate that super well, since it was a ratter warm night for Shirakawago's standards. They only had 1 shower/tub and 2 toilets. At first it got me worried it would be jammed to shower/use the toilet. But I didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes to shower and never had to wait to use the toilet, even with the place in full capacity. After all, the place is small with few rooms. Since it is really expensive to stay in Shirakawago, it wasn't that cheap. But it was a very fair price for the great experience we had.

Very kind staff. Even if it is little far from the attraction center, they take you by shuttle to (8:30 am) and from (after 5 pm) the center. I normally don't prefer shared toilets, but here I was not disturbed at all. Room was small but very efficiently designed It was so comfortable.

The best thing about this place is the people. Wonderful family is running this small cozy Inn along the road to Shirakawa-go from Toyama. We could not find affordable Inn in Shirakawa-go, so we chose this one just 40 minutes away. Very nice rooms decorated with good taste and comfortable. Toilet and sink are available in the room and the traditional bath separately for men and women is located downstairs. It was interesting to try it. Very helpful and friendly family members were willing to communicate and give us advice. And great meals were served with care and in a traditional way. We enjoyed our one night stay there a lot. Thank you :)

Partition rooms no sound proof can hear neighbours walking and talking. As u go in the room feel like go army camp🤣, after check out u have to take out bedsheet, blanket liner and pillow case for them. The advantage is they provide tru & fro shuttle service to station. Is ok for me just 1 night.

1 day experience is perfect.

1 day experience is perfect. The tourist site can be done in a few hours if your arrive before noon. Next is to enjoy a good hotel stay with onsen and their gourmet dinner onsite from late afternoon to night. Follow by breakfast and leave to next destination. There is a storage place next to the bus terminal if you have luggage to store for a few hours and check out tourist venue next to it before heading to the hotel. We chose to ship our large luggage from Tokyo to Kyoto via the Family Mart or Yamato shipping services from Tokyo.

It has beautiful views of the snow, river, mountains and of course the thatched roof houses. The air is fresh but it is difficult to find a restaurant because they close early. It is boring at night. It would be better if visitors just go to Shirakawa for a day trip and stay at Takayama.

Shirakawa-go is a beautifully preserved hidden gem, offering a glimpse into Japan’s rich cultural heritage. Walking through the village feels like stepping back in time, with its iconic gassho-zukuri farmhouses and serene atmosphere. No matter the season, the scenery is breathtaking—whether dusted in snow, surrounded by cherry blossoms, lush with greenery, or glowing with autumn colours. It’s a must-visit for anyone interested in traditional Japan.

Beautiful landscape with gassho buildings that are UNESCO heritage. There are quite a few museums open for tourists to get a deeper understanding of inhabitants who lived in these buildings many years ago. Many Souvenir shops and eateries... But most close by 5pm or 6pm. Limited dinner choices at night.

Shirakawa is a really gorgeous, serene village that we absolutely loved visiting. It almost felt unreal. Even though most of the restaurants and cafes were closed when we went (due to the season), it was lovely to just walk around and enjoy the sights.
