Breakfast, the view, and the onsen. The staff also went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, and even sent us to the train station when we checked out. We are not breakfast people, and always overslept the breakfast timing, but we looked forward, in a way, to receiving the breakfast call every morning. Also, there is a really nice BBQ restaurant attached to the hotel, with fantastic views, fresh seafood/meat, and a really good drink plan.

The hotel is located at the coast in front of a tiny island. Our first room had the most spectacular view of the coastline, also thanks to its huge glass windows. While we thought it couldn’t get better, we even got an upgrade to one of the rooms boasting a private hot bath on a terrace, also with the most stunning view along the small island in front of the hotel and the coastline. The rooms themselves are marvelous and the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Also, the hotels Spa facilities are well made and very relaxing. The general area around Shimoda has some of the nicest beaches we’ve seen so far and is perfect for surfers (or those who want to learn surfing).
