This place is very special. It was atmospheric and lovely retaining all its original charm, but with wonderfully modern toilets and a modern bathroom with a deep wooden tub. We ended up enjoying the town of Suhara quite a bit as well, it is a lovely original post town. There is a fresh water spring right outside the front door which was also very special for us. The host clearly has his heart and soul in the place and I'm glad he is willing to share it.

Hostel Yui-an was the most special accommodation in our entire trip to the Japanese Alps. The house is simply amazing, the surroundings are peaceful and the girls who run the place are nice, friendly, helpful and speak excellent English. I would totally recommend it!

This inn brings you back to another time. It’s perfectly located in the heart of a charming mountain village - quiet, peaceful, and very close to the Nakasendo trail, yet not in the overly touristy area. The building is a traditional wooden house, beautifully decorated with tasteful details that make it both authentic and cool. Our room was remarkably spacious, especially by Japanese standards, making it a very comfortable place to stay. But what makes the experience exceptional is the atmosphere: the surrounding neighborhood is wonderfully genuine, and the young owner runs the inn with great care and warmth. He manages to make the experience feel special and privileged. He even took the time to show us the nearby temple and prepared a delicious dinner, introducing us to a locally brewed and quite unique sake. We wholeheartedly recommend staying here and wish him all the best in this beautiful adventure.

The place was super nice! We loved that school atmosphere. During that time there were actually some students who came for the trip, even though they were really quiet. We stayed in the dormitory and the beds were pretty big, toilets were super clean, there are also additional blankets just in case you are cold at night (but it was pretty warm).

The house is spacious, very clean, very comfortable, and located in a beautiful, silent place outside Magome-juku. A stay there was really relaxing. And I have noticed some people on trail, pasing by the house, and loudly admiring how nice it is. The hosts say they do not offer breakfasts, but it is a kind of a lie! There is absolutely enough food provided, to have a very good breakfast. And talking about the hosts - they are amazing, so helpful and welcoming, like I have never seen before. Their invaluable help and advices allowed us to visit every place in the nearest region that we planned to, despite the unfavorable weather.

I can not say enough good things about this property, it is a huge space for Japan, it was cozy and warm, it had a smart tv, toys for children, and comfy beds. I was a bit worried about the location when I booked it but the host picked us up, dropped us off, offered to take us to the supermarket and the hot springs and made us a delicious lunch and breakfast so it was not a problem at all. There is also a bus stop right outside.

What a delight! Such a comfortable and cosy home, quiet, relaxing. Next door is cafe 42, with all types of music, meals and drinks. Easy walk to the station, and from there you can access points of Nakasendo.

My favorite accommodation in Japan. The house is beautiful, spotless, peaceful.. I found myself wanting to live there haha. And the host is super friendly and kind. He recommended an awesome place to have dinner, he drove me and the other guest to Magome so we could do the trail, AND he got me an adaptor that I was missing because mine didn't work. I was very grateful.
