People go to oarai to pilgrimage for GuP. Was the cheapest and closest to the town center. Place being clean, quiet and cozy was a huge bonus. The caretaker, nobita was a cool dude for helping me out.

The hotel is situated slightly off the main road, but this means that the place itself is very peaceful and serene. Apart from that, the hotel does try it best to stay ahead of changes, such as providing EV charging within its carpark. The room that we chose was quite huge and have a nice view of Naka River. Quite stunning indeed. The staff were very nice and helpful, even going through the extra mile to communicate using translator device to assist us in the check-in. The carpark spaces are ample so no worries about parking there.

Oarai is a great place, somewhat like the rural villages of...

Oarai is a great place, somewhat like the rural villages of Yuen Long in Hong Kong – very welcoming and friendly, with residents readily interacting with tourists. Opening hours are 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM (varies by establishment). Near the gas station, there's a restaurant called "Dai Xiao Canteen" that stays open a bit later. Also, from November to March in Japan, there's a seasonal monkfish hot pot; each establishment offers different seasonal seafood. Bicycles can be rented near Oarai Station. The Kaiyu Bus runs from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily, so bicycles are more convenient. Attractions include seaside torii gates, an aquarium, a shrine, and a mentaiko (pollock egg) park. There's also a fan-made attraction (Girls und Panzer) that's worth revisiting.

I took a bus from the Aquarium to Oarai station and rented a bicycle for 1,000 JPY for a day. We drove around the beach, stopped at seafood restaurants, donut shops, and drove around the town. It was a lot of fun. I recommend returning the bicycle at Nakaminato Station, as it's closer to the hotel and you can walk back, about 2 km. The town is quiet. I didn't use the hotel's onsen, but it's probably nice. You may have to pay a small extra for hot water in your room's bathtub.
