The entire area was fabulous.

The entire area was fabulous. The town with its shrine, steam railway waterfalls and ancient bridge is a must see. The drive up to the lake was great and the walking from Lake Chuzenzi was delightful. No bears or birds sadly - next time perhaps.

Nikko proved to be an amazing refuge from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, that was much needed. I visited in early September during a heatwave, and the elevation of Nikko and thus slightly lower temperatures made the stay incredibly refreshing. The temples, lake, waterfalls and the entire area were amazing to discover and very well connected with local public transportation.

The Toshugo shrine was amazing and well worth the trip.

The Toshugo shrine was amazing and well worth the trip. If you travel on to Takayama I recommend seeing the one tenth scale model of the shrine complex which is almost unbelievable in its detail and precision. Nikko is quite a sleepy town and many restaurants shut very early so I recommend making a reservation. The Nikko pass is worth purchasing, we enjoyed a day sightseeing on the local buses and trains. We had an outstanding dinner at Global Table, located on the Main Street in Nikko, well worth booking this for an unforgettable experience with Chef Ishida.

Our trip to Nikko was nothing short of magical.

Our trip to Nikko was nothing short of magical. The town is surrounded by some of the most beautiful forests and breathtaking waterfalls I’ve ever seen. Every corner feels like stepping into a postcard—lush, serene, and full of natural wonder. The town itself has such charm, with its cozy streets, warm hospitality, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down and simply enjoy the moment. We stayed for three nights, which gave us time to explore, but we truly wish we had stayed longer. There’s so much more to see and experience, and the beauty of the area leaves you wanting to return.

We walked to the Togoshu Shrine; make sure you're prepared for uphill walks and a lot of stairs. The Main Street leading to the shrine was amazing. A ton of food vendors and restaurants. We took the bus to Kegon Falls. The ride was spectacular through the mountains and the village at the top was a pleasant surprise.

Touristy, somewhat charmless town that is nevertheless worth it for the magnificent shrines (Shinto, and the resting places of the first and third shoguns) and temples (Buddhist) and the museum (splurge on the museum! Seriously). Many people go to see these buildings + the red bridge (which is merely fine - short and not really noteworthy), but don't venture to the outskirts of Nikko to take in the other sites (Kanmangafuchi Abyss, Botanical Garden, Tamozawa Imperial Villa and much more impressive Nikko Dainichi Bridge).

Good location close to both Nikko and Tobu-Nikko station. Tasty breakfast included, with Japanese (vegetable curry) as well as Western (toast) options. The hotel was quiet and safe. The room was somewhat small but not out of the ordinary for Japanese hotels. Probably would not be a great option if you are planning to spend most of your day in the accommodation, but since we spent most of the day out sightseeing and were only at the accommodation at night it was perfectly comfortable for what we needed.

We loved our stay at the Silver Daisy. In addition to spending time in beautiful Nikko, we will always remember the night we spent stargazing from the zen garden, watching meteors falling from the clear, dark sky while listening to the nearby river. In the morning we even did a Qui Gong session on the Zen Patio. We had a wonderful experience staying in such a modern, comfortable hotel unit in such peaceful surroundings.

The hotel is set along the forest in Nikko, which was so beautiful and quiet. The onsen was great!! And we appreciated the timed morning and afternoon free shuttle between the mountainside location and the train station location. The breakfast and dinner was delicious! We stayed four nights in Nikko and could have stayed longer. What a marvelous world heritage site. Don't miss Taiyuin!!

I really liked the privacy of my room (bunk bed, with desk and sliding door. It was comfortable and a great place to explore Nikko from. The bathrooms are clean and the hot bath is nice. The staff is very friendly and provided a smooth check-in and stay at the hotel.

Would recommend the meal in the room in Japanese's style room. It was not what I picked but it looked like a nice experience. Hotel are within walking distance to temples. Great Location. No need to buy the local bus pass. Use Tokyo Bus pass to get around.
