the best staying experience that I had in my trip in Japan. The hotel is easily reachable by taxi or local bus from the Minobu train station. I booked rooms with toilets and they are nicely decorated with local tradition. The staff are generally fluent in English and have been very attentive to queries of guests. Very good breakfasts and dinners in traditional Japanese style. The spot is convenient for reaching the Kuon-ji temple to observe and listen to the morning prays. The mountains have multiple hiking options. After that, some snack in the local shops and a hot spring bath in the hotel are the best. The next morning, staying in the comfortable bed, I just don’t want to wake up. In short, highly recommended!

Beautiful and peaceful stay. Ken, the chief priest took care of us really well. We are well informed about Nichiren buddhism and led to join the evening chanting and morning chanting. Vegetarian dinner and breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed our stay!

As an European we loved Shimobe Hotel. We visited hotel to feel like Japanese people during vacation, and it was brilliant. We could dip our feet in hot water watching koi fish pool, we were invited to mash rice to make rice cakes during evening animations, and there is beautiful stone outdoor onsen. Everything was far beyond our expectations, and I recommend Shimobe Hotel to everyone seeking calmness, relax and friendly atmosphere in traditional Japanese style

Loved it here, amazing view of Mt Fuji and only a few minutes to walk directly down to the lake. Loved trying all the local Japanese food for breakfast and dinner. They have kayaks and paddle boards to rent, and you can rent bicycles from the souvenir shop by the bus stop down the road to explore some of the other lakes and Aokigahara forest, they'll always pick you up/drop you off at the bus stop if you don't have a car. The rooms are basic but in traditional style, they also have an onsen downstairs to warm up after a cold day and kimonos in the room. Would definitely recommend staying here as it's a bit further away from any of the busier areas, so much more peaceful. I'd like to come back and stay at the campground directly by the lake next time, the sunrise there was stunning. Staying at Lake Motosu was actually the highlight of my whole Japan trip!

We loved this hotel. It’s located at one of the smallest lakes and very remote to the main lake area but that’s what we wanted.. barely anyone around it felt like we had the lake to ourselves. Staff were excellent and so helpful and the buffet breakfast and dinner was fantastic (basically all you can eat) so awesome value for money. And they picked us up and dropped us for free at train station which is a 30-40min drive away!

Beautiful accommodation in the Japanese countryside with a view of Mt. Fuji. The staff are very hospitable and friendly. You can also use the kitchen and park comfortably behind the house. The place is lovely and clean, and you’re provided with a towel and pajamas. We felt very comfortable and welcome — thank you!
