Great location right near the train station close to shops, car rental. The language barrier was a little difficult, but we all managed with a laugh. The public bath was fantastic.

Spacious than normal business hotels. Luggage space under the bed is very clever. Minimum but everything we need are there.

Hotel is literally across the street from the Shin Yamaguchi station, easy access, simple but clean rooms and very friendly staff! It's also in an area with a variety of restaurants, but be advised on a slow Sunday afternoon, not a lot is open (but the conbini two doors down was, so we managed to get a late lunch all the same). It's a short train ride to Yuda-onsen, and the bus going to the Akiyoshido caves goes from the hotel's side of the station. Tip: if you have a foreign passport please apply to the one day bus pass, it's cheaper than two single tickets, and you can also use it like we did from hotel to caves to Yuda Onsen and back to the hotel. Not all buslines are on Google maps, but every stop and bus has a QR code with information on that line. Bus pass can be applied for at the bus information desk, it takes about 10 minutes to get.

Upper version of dormy inn. Mixture of conpemporary hotel and traditional ryokan style. I choose a little bigger room because of 2 night stay and am completely satisfied with all hotel facilities: Room, Public bath, Breakfast and Staffs' manner. Even no shoes in hoyel indoor.

The staff were really nice and assisted us when we had troubles with our room card. The facilities were also good and breakfasts was a really nice bonus.

A full size bath, and an ensuite large enough to roam around in! Most of our other hotels had ensuites that looked like space capsules and which were designed to make use of every micro-millimetre.... so having a shower meant knocking elbows against the basin which, in these modern toilets, is considered suitably-placed overhanging what passes for a bath nowadays. Not fun for an old guy! But the Royal Inn was obviously designed in the sixties or seventies (the bath and toilet were bright GREEN!), and we were grateful for the luxury of enough room to move freely. Sure, the carpet in the hallway looked as if it was as original as the full-size bath, and the hotel, in ultra-modern Japan, is something of an anomaly. Some reviews have taken exception to its unrefurbished age and condition, but we judged that -- after two weeks in the modern-style hotels all over Kansai -- as its major plus... it is already a bit of history!
