As an European we loved Shimobe Hotel. We visited hotel to feel like Japanese people during vacation, and it was brilliant. We could dip our feet in hot water watching koi fish pool, we were invited to mash rice to make rice cakes during evening animations, and there is beautiful stone outdoor onsen. Everything was far beyond our expectations, and I recommend Shimobe Hotel to everyone seeking calmness, relax and friendly atmosphere in traditional Japanese style

Definitely a place to stay if you want to see Mt Fuji and its reflection on Lake Tanuki. There is a direct bus from Tokyo station and/or Mishima Station to the hotel, but with only a taxi option from Mt. Fuji station on Lake Kawaguchiko.
