The owner was so lovely and helpful. pointed out local places to see etc. the place itself is very traditional and you feel like you are really in Japan here. we had the place to ourselves, so it was really quiet,but our room was open to the stairs above the walls to the shared kitchen below, but eveyone goes to bed early anyway.

A beautifully renovated new hotel in an old traditional building in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. Design is a perfect blend of traditional and modern with great attention to detail – each room has a different character and so would like to return again and try a different room. What a pleasant surprise this hotel was, really great rooms, super friendly staff, a washmachine and dryer in your room to use for free, wow! On booking.com, the hotel comes accross as a bit shabby, but it is not at all. Everything is very new, spacious and well maintained.
