It was unexpectedly great!

It was unexpectedly great! It was a quaint little town with lots of restaurants and little shops to explore. If you have a car, you can travel beyond the 5 km range for more touristy spots, but just having a bike means you can already explore a cheese factory, go up the cable car, a nearby winery, a horse riding school and a couple of flower farms. So, it's a great place for people who cannot get hold of a rental car. It's accessible via the JR line from the New Chitose Airport, which makes this place a good stopping point for a bit of nature and culture. I stayed for 2 nights, and could have stayed longer while enjoying the changing season.

We've been twice to Furano.

We've been twice to Furano. It's a wonderfully friendly and relaxed resort. While it's not large by European or American standards, it features fabulously dry powder snow, and great restaurant options at the foot of the slopes and in the adjacent town. The fact that it is small also makes it easy to meet up with friends.

Furano was an interesting city town, with enough restaurants and markets to find whatever we might need. Both my huband and myself were not feeling well, so it was a good place to relax. All the people at the stores and eating establishments were always helpful and so very polite. There were some amazing views as Furano is surrounded by mountains. Having the ski resort nearby was a bonus.

Furano is good for beginner and intermediate skiing.

Furano is good for beginner and intermediate skiing. Less people on the slopes. Good for families with children learning to ski. Nut not challenging enough for advanced skiers I understand it is beautiful in summer for its lavender fields and flowers

Small town at a distance away from the slopes.

Small town at a distance away from the slopes. The town itself is unremarkable though compact and well-equipped. Note that Furano has TWO ski zones, and the Kitanomine zone opens about a month later into the season. Public transport is infrequent, and difficult to get around by. Driving is strongly recommended unless you plan to just remain at the hotel next to the slopes.

The hotel was extremely beautiful and the hosts were superb.

The hotel was extremely beautiful and the hosts were superb. All of the tourist spots in the photos were easily accessible from the hotel and absolutely worthwhile. They included Tomita Farm, a nearby waterfall near Biei, Blue Pond near Biei, the park opposite the hotel Air Furano and the Furano shrine. Highly recommend.

This family run hotel was amazing. We arrived well before check in and we were able to access our room. The beds were comfortable and large. There is a very cosy family room/dining room with lounges and a fire , a drying room and storage for skis and boards as well. The home cooked breakfast was just what we needed before hitting the slopes, with the gondola only a few blocks walk away. The staff were so accommodating that when we weren’t able to get a taxi, they offered to drive us with their van.

Location is v good -convenient. Takes few minutes to walk from the Furano Station to the hotel. The shop street is vv near the hotel- Furano Mache and the little shops ,supermarkets n restaurants are all around the hotel n within walking distance. Location also not far from the Flower farms with their lovely summer blooms. Staff members are very polite and helpful. Breakfast is fine offering a variety choice of Japanese and Western breakfast. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

It was a well suited hotel for a skiing trip, with a relatively short drive to many skiing destinations around Furano/Daisetsuzan area. They did not offer breakfast but the room had a fridge and microwave as well as equipment for making coffee/tea. Unlimited bottled water was available. The staff was super friendly and helpful, although they did not speak English.

This is a very basic pension with very basic facilities. Common bath (Japanese style with no cubicles). Ski room. Free parking onsite. Everything as advertised but very very old. Biggest draw here is proximity to lifts at kitanomine zone. Can’t argue for the price you pay. But keep expectations in check.

Superb clean room equipped with all the necessary amenities that we need. The warm hospitality and friendly owners help to make our stay in Hotel Hanafuji Inn a pleasant one. I recommend tourists who want to drive and explore the beauty of Furano and Biei to stay a couple of night in this lovely inn.
