Venice is an absolutely beautiful city — truly one of a kind...

Venice is an absolutely beautiful city — truly one of a kind. Just be prepared to walk a lot! My wife and I walked over 40 miles in 3 days, which was exhausting but also the best way to really see and feel the city. Yes, I know we could have used the vaporetto or gondolas, but honestly, I found the public transport system quite disappointing. Here’s why: when you arrive for the first time, it’s confusing to know which ticket to buy or where to go, and unfortunately, many of the staff we dealt with were unhelpful and even rude, showing little empathy or understanding that tourists might not know how things work. To give you an idea, I accidentally bought the wrong ticket and went back immediately to ask for a refund — but was told they don’t do refunds. I lost 50 euros just like that, which feels unacceptable in 2025. On the bright side, restaurants were fantastic — great food, amazing service, and friendly people. Venice itself is stunning and full of charm; I just wish the public transport experience matched the rest of the city’s beauty.

Loved this romantic city and all it has to offer.

Loved this romantic city and all it has to offer. Get lost in the back streets, enjoy the ambience, eat and drink the local produce. Travel to Murano in the morning and Burano in the afternoon by water taxis and wander the glass and lace islands. Loved Burano, so friendly and pretty. Our only sad face, and this we found across Italy, is not anywhere to sit and relax, seems they don’t like people sitting unless you are paying for it at a cafe/restaurant. Police are very adamant in Venice and will pull you up if you try sitting anywhere, so definitely not recommended if you have a disability or are elderly. So sad, when it’s a perfect place to sit and soak up the beauty of a truly beautiful city.

Our second visit to Venice in October was perfect.

Our second visit to Venice in October was perfect. Sunny every day & not too crowded. The hoteliers & restauranteurs we met were friendly & welcoming, the trip into Venice on the water taxi was spectacular & the bakeries were outstanding & reasonably priced. It is the most beautiful & interesting city I have ever visited & I look forward to a return when I will stay longer.

Beautiful, friendly, history-drenched city.

Beautiful, friendly, history-drenched city. Plenty of eateries, reasonably priced and easy to navigate public transport (ACTV sells a variety of tickets for hop-on/off ferries, train station nearby).

Venice is such a fun city with all the canals and little bridges. We ate at so many good restaurants and enjoyed just wandering and getting lost. I highly recommend the time of year that we went because the summer vacations were gone and it was still so beautiful and warm! September is great! most definitely take a day trip to Murano and Burano! You can just catch a ferry, you don't need to book an excursion!

We had an amazing experience at Residenza Ducato in Venice. Paola and Valentina were incredibly attentive and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel was impeccably clean, and our room was always spotless. Despite its central location, the hotel was wonderfully quiet, allowing for restful nights. Plus, it's perfectly situated, just a short walk from St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge. This was the best experience we've had during our many travels throughout Italy. Highly recommended!

Great location, beautifully furnished apartment, very Venetian, you really felt you were staying in Venice, not just Italy. Slopey floor that added to the charm of an old building, and watching the fish swim past every morning in the canal. 3rd photo is the view from the living room.Great take away pizza shop and galetti at the end of the lane for a cheaper night in. Advise doing the Row Venice, where you learn to row a gondola, fabulous experience.

The hotel is located in a great location in Venice, very close to a number of waterbus stations which made it very easy to get around. The room itself was spacious with a very interesting interior design. Breakfast was good and they provided us with bag storage on our check-out day. Best location to catch a waterbus across to Lido for a beach day.

Fantastic location in Venice, my favourite hotel out of our 2 weeks in italy. Really big space with perfect air con. Loved the location for exploring Venice. Staff were very friendly and thought the price was super for a touristy spot in August. Fab!

The room was nice, the location was fantastic and the breakfast was awesome. The coffee taste just the way I won't it and it's the best of all hotel I stayed in Italy.
