Shhh, don't tell anyone about this place, it might get more popular :) Highlight discovery of our souther Italy adventure. Sapri is the exact thing we had hoped to find in an Italian seaside resoin north rt town. We could get out of Positano, Amalifi or Sorrento quick enough while we started to look at real estate prices for month long rentals here. It has the character of a small seaside town that is not overwhelmed by tourists, but is in a good location at the head of the cost road heading South into Basilicata and Calabria. Sapri is a stunning coastal town.
Sapri is a stunning coastal town. Well preserved with respect for the environment. The bay is quite extraordinary. It’s a manageable town, easy to negotiate and there are lovely bars and restaurants. Local people use the town well and it’s not only a tourist destination. A place to relax in. We visited a few lovely bars in the seafront and went to Fratimo Pizza restaurant. It’s a small restaurant just behind the seafront. It’s local and we were so happy to witness an impromptu musical jam session. Two acoustic guitars and a man with a wonderful plaintive voice. It's original use was as a mill, and the original stone press is retained, together with the well and other implements of the time, as an interesting feature of the ground floor. The decoration of the suites is very tasteful. The hosts could not be more friendly and helpful, and happy to sit and chat with the guests in the extensive and pleasant garden. I returned after a walking holiday on the Sentiero Italia and I still give it 10/10. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are well furnished and of good quality. The breakfast was excellent and you can take it outside in the nice garden. The beach and shops are all nearby.
