Piazza Armerina is a wonderful town in the centre of Sicily. Not only do you find there the most beautiful Roman mosaics in the nearby Villa Romana del Casale. The historic city of Piazza Armerina is a splendid and picturesque place. The panoramic view of the historic city from the famous viewpoint is one of the most breathtaking views in Sicily. Quaint area with beautiful medieval and Roman influence. Great area to explore. Villa Romana di Casale houses exquisite mosaics dating back to around 4 A.D. Food spots were great too / highly recommend Pizza e Core and Ostera del Conte, door to door deliciousness in the heart of the city. For lunch we also ate at Trattoria da Gianna wh8xh was authentic and delicious, with all food cooked from scratch. Area is very quiet and pet friendly which is why I selected this hotel as we travelled with our family dog. The host Rita was very friendly and accommodating. There is a supermarket very close to the villa which the host told us about. A quick drive of about 7 to 8 minutes leads you to the center of Piazza Armerina. We had no issues with the dog.
