A great location - across the road from the beach the best village to choose to stay in - in my opinion as it has more room to move around freely when the day visitors come also. Quaint village in a series of 5 well connected villages. Easy access by train. Amazing walks betwen villages. Warm sea to swim in. Food became a bit one dimensional. Pizza and pasta. If you don’t eat pork and shell fish then you eat a mountain of carbohydrates. We longed for something fresh. Overall a fantastic place steeped in history and Italian culture. Well worth a visit. The sea is spectacular and the water is so refreshing. We loved the pebble Beach in the New Town where there was a free section so we could enjoy a swim after our hike or bike ride. Monterosso al Mare is kept very clean and we felt safe. Nice walking paths and many restaurants and shops to see. Even though it is a beach town, you don't see many children. It's more of a romantic adult getaway spot. Restaurants are small and most seating is on the patio. The location was perfect in the old part of Monterosso. The place was very clean with great amenities. Gabriela personally showed me to my room and how the doors worked. The slippers in the room was a pleasant touch. Huge variety was laid on for breakfast enough to cater for every taste. He also recommended some nice restaurants. You can then enjoy the Cinque Terre with the frequent train service. The room has been renovated recently and offer good bedding and bathroom in a quiet environment.
