    What a beautiful, elegant city.

What a beautiful, elegant city. Tree lined streets and fairytale housing. Almost all the buildings were decorative in some way. The Duomo is absolutely stunning! The Galleria is nice if you have a lot of money to spend , otherwise visit the Castello and walk in the lovely parks.

Too busy. Lots of graffiti and overflowing bins.

Too busy. Lots of graffiti and overflowing bins. Lots of lovely restaurants however very limited for lunch or snacks. Ok if you wanted a meal during the day. Very limited Gluten Free options, and not all restaurants had that option. Very little tourist information. No signs to direct to anything, so you had to rely on the internet or guide books. Hop on off bus gave you lots of information however you couldn't see them from the bus. Had to get off and then try and find them.

Research Milan for what you want to do first!

Research Milan for what you want to do first! It makes it easier to get around. We wanted to stay near a busy area with bars and restaurants. Great transport links but also easy enough to walk around the city if that's your thing. Definitely go to a football game if you enjoy football, great atmosphere. Backdoor 43 is an unreal cocktail bar and visit Gelateria Umberto 1934 for an afregato! The duomo is worth doing but don't get your hopes up too much! Inside the catherdral was much more worth viewing than the rood terraces. Cocktails can be pricey on main areas but super tasty. Look out for apperitivo hours from around 5pm-9pm ish where each drink comes with snacks, a meat/cheese board and sometimes a buffet! Lake Como is just a 50 min train ride away, definitely worth visiting but actually better when the weather isnt the best as it can get super busy.

Let me start by saying that Milan is an amazing place.

Let me start by saying that Milan is an amazing place. Brimming with history, architectural marvels, churches and cathedrals, beautiful tree-lined boulevards, modern sporting facilities, exclusive fashion shopping districts, a network of canals, a massive tower and so much more. Milan has an extensive Tram network, utilising both modern and efficient Trams and Classic trams. It also has an Arco Della Pace (similar to Frances Arc de Triomphe) which stands at the entrance to a most amazing park, the Parco Sempione. At the rear of the park is a massive Castle/Fort called Castello Sforzesco. We explored some of the markets and shops that are located in various parts of Milan. Our first stop was Eataly (a play on Eat Italy) that featured a vast array of comestibles, wines, kitchen utensils and other providore items. The offerings were spectacular; Pastas, Salamis, Meats, dry ingredients, wines, oils etc. All from Italy!! There was even a small green grocer offering fresh produce. Had we not just finished breakfast, we would have indulged in some of the vast array of offerings. But alas we refrained. We then headed, by train to the Milano Centrale, which beyond being the Railway hub for Milan also sports quite an extensive array of shops and cafes. Plus it also has an amazing Mercato Centrale offering ready to eat dishes. Very appealing.

I stopped in Milan for two days on the way to a hiking trip in the Alps, and I'm glad I did. It is a comfortable city to visit with some spectacular attractions. Fascinating to me were the Duomo di Milano (the big cathedral constructed between 1386 and 2025), and the Castello Sforzesco, a magnificent medieval-Renaissance fortress located in the heart of Milan at Piazza Castello. Initially built in the 15th century by Duke Francesco Sforza atop a 14th-century fortification, it has evolved into one of Europe’s most iconic citadels. Today, the castle houses several museums and cultural institutions, including: Museum of Ancient Art Picture Gallery Museum of Musical Instruments Museum of the Pietà Rondanini, featuring Michelangelo’s final sculpture The famed Sala delle Asse, frescoed by Leonardo da Vinci

Beautiful small hotel with an exceptional host who was responsive and provided fantastic communication. Well documented recomendations on restaurants and attractions. Short walk from the city centre this quiet room was most enjoyable. Lovely little communal courtyard to enjoy and surrounded by local dining choices. We will be back when next in Milan

as milan is such a huge and scattered city it takes you up to 30min to get to the city centre, although the hotel seems to be central. but because of good availability of public transport next to the hotel, it’s totally fine. also, there is a nice neighbourhood if you are walking a bit. nice furniture, huge and comfortable bed

Room was very clean and great, had everything we needed. The hotel had a lovely feel to it. Compared to almost everywhere else in Milan the price was very reasonable and the staff friendly. Easy access to the city centre without being in the busiest area. Several good and authentic local pizza places nearby too!

Really beautiful, clean and modern hotel with very helpful staff. Would absolutely stay here again if I was ever to return to Milan, the only downside was the location. Was a good 20 minutes away from Milan Centrale and you needed to use the metro to get into the city centre. Breakfast was also quite basic.
