FAQs about hotels in Milan

A Capital of Design and Style

Renowned as the world’s fashion and design capital, Milan is never short on places to see and things to experience. The stunning architecture of the Duomo di Milano and the famous La Scala theatre are just a few of the city’s breath-taking attractions. For a more intimate adventure, the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie with Leonardo da Vinci's “Last Supper” lets you view a masterpiece from Italy’s past.

Visit the FieraMilano and Salone del Mobile, among the world’s largest and most prestigious furniture and design fairs or have a stroll in the Quadrilatero Della Moda district to admire unique creations from the most famous Italian fashion brands: Gucci, Versace, Armani, Prada or Dolce & Gabbana.

The Navigli and Porta Romana districts are famed for restaurants and bars serving delicious Lombard cuisine and the very popular aperitivo. Make sure you try sweet delicacies at the chic Caffé Cova, founded in 1817, or another historical café, Zucca, in the Galleria.

Arriving at Malpensa or Linate Airports, you’re only a short trip from the city centre, where you can watch a game at the San Siro or enjoy Milan Fashion Week. Whether you’re staying in a chic apartment, design hotel or budget hostel, Booking.com has a perfect accommodation for your Milan holiday.

I got robbed at Santo Agostino station.

I got robbed at Santo Agostino station. A group of 5 Arab people attacked me, took my chain, sprayed peppermint on my face because they wanted to take everything I had, but they gave up when I got rid of their grip and stepped away! Milano has become more dangerous for the past 4 years. Even though you book a stay close to the city center, there are chances someone will attack you at subway stations. I was afraid those criminals would beat me up or even stab me when they were holding my arms. It’s so unfortunate because Milano is a magnificent city. The mayor must get more security on the streets and subway stations, but I bet he’ll do it only for the Olympics next year. Be careful when you are in Milano! Take subways during rush hours and don’t be by yourself late in the evening (10pm!) in subways! They wait for you to take the stairs to leave or get in the station in order to attack you. There are no cameras at those locations.

Milan honours its Italian history and heritage while being a modern city. I spent a day exploring the Piazza Del Duomo and touring the Cathedral. The Piazza gives you the vibe of the city. Public transport makes it easy to visit the numerous historic sites.

The history, museums, and architecture were wonderful.

The history, museums, and architecture were wonderful. The Metro system was excellent and cheap to use. I'd avoid the restaurants and eateries in the more popular 'tourist traps' (Doumo di Milano area) as they were extortionately expensive. Taking an expensive advantage of tourists purely for profit.

We really loved this great city.

We really loved this great city. It is so lively and we found the people to be extremely friendly and helpful. Lots of great sights to see and wonderful places to explore. Like that you can just hop on a train & visit other great areas (in our case we took a little day trip to Lake Como). Found it extremely easy to get around the city. We explored all the different areas by foot as we like to walk but there are great bus subway and train options available to those who don’t want to walk as much.

Loved Lake Como, an hour and 5 minutes from the central station by train. Loved Duomo Cathedral and the surrounding area. The Navigli district is fabulous, lively, vibrant and busy. A bit difficult to find which tram stop you might need but the tubes are quite easy. Found the Italian people quite rude especially the staff at Bergamo airport who were awful, not helpful at all. This could put us off going back to Italy. Most of them were ignorant, always pushing in or walking in front of you but there were a couple who were pleasant and helpful.

Main thing – plan your trip in advance, book entrance tickets several months ahead, as many attractions are completely sold out weeks in advance. Must-see places: Milan Cathedral, the Santa Maria delle Grazie convent where you can view Da Vinci’s wall painting (the next 2–3 months are sold out), the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, and attend an opera or ballet at Teatro Alla Scala. If You are coughing up dollars, shop at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, but if not, at least take a look.

Adorable zebra themed hotel located in Milan's Navigli district, which is slightly out of Milan's city centre. Really good access to metro and tram, <5 min walk. Nice night life with restaurants along the canals very close by. The room was beautifully decorated with a very spacious bathroom and balcony, so can't complain.

A traditional, clean, confortable hotel near Milan's city centre Great location, clean and few minutes walk from the metro and several restaurants. Ideal for business trips and for visiting Milan as a tourist. The room was spacious enough (although not the largest in town), clean and quiet.

The hotel was stunning with lovely decor and extremely clean! The location was great, it was slightly outside the city so we got the old trams into Milan city centre which added a nice element to the trip. The staff were super helpful and welcoming! Thank you for our stay!

I was visiting Milan for the concert at San Siro so this was perfect spot to stay. Near metro and nice walk (not too long) to the city centre. Nice hotel and staff. And best priced for last minute booking in high season in Milan (prices are crazy).
