The hike to the island is very nice, we did it at 11pm after our dinner. You have to visit the church. We loved this village and his traditional houses. We eat very well at Sjávarpakkhúsið restaurant.

Slightly quirky, remote town, with an interesting harbour. A few good places to eat/drink, and plenty to see and do around the surrounding peninsula - national park, hiking volcanoes, whale-watching, and even trying fermented shark. Pretty, colourful houses in town make it a relaxing place to stay too.

Ended up being out of our way on our trip on the ring road due to weather and a change in what we decided to do. Very cute little town with a delicious bakery. Didn't see much of the town really.

Only a couple of hours from Reykjavik but this place feels...

Only a couple of hours from Reykjavik but this place feels very much away from it all. The roads in and out aren't the easiest depending on the weather. We visited in early April and got stuck in snow (twice!) on the way in taking the northern road then feared getting stuck due to road closures and difficult driving conditions on the way out but we made it. Because of this we didn't get to see as much as we'd have liked. But we did have excellent takeaway fish and chips from the harbour front at Hafnarvaginn

We were greeted by lovely, friendly staff. She was very helpful and always ready to assist with anything Icelandic. We were also greeted by friendly nuns who also helped us unload our luggage! The room assigned to us had a beautiful view of Sugandisey Cliff and has a generous, clean space. The breakfast was excellent. I also liked the idea of having a chapel inside a hotel, one of a kind! Location of hotel is excellent and value for money!

This was the most beautiful hotel we had on our 3 week trip to Iceland! It‘s freshly renovated, very high ceiling and the appliances are of decent quality (not only Ikea and if Ikea, then the better quality stuff). Stykkisholmur is a very scenic little town, absolutely worth a visit.

Large, comfortable hotel set high above the town, Staff were friendly, with large dining area with good views over the town - in which a good breakfast was served. Short walk into town and harbour. Plenty of free parking. Golf course nearby.

A nice cabin in a calm location, next to a camping site in Stykkishólmur. The lower floor, with the kitchen, the sofa and a bathroom, is relatively small but ok. Very good price for Iceland. The apartment is clean and the check-in was smooth.
