This was by far our favorite guesthouse in Iceland that we went to. We walked to the plane wreck and when we came back we were surprised by a snow storm and due to that a closed main road. We waited there for a while and then mountain guides led u trough their basecamp some minutes away to stay there for a while. We were happily surprised that there was a guesthouse 600m away so after an hour we decided to give it a go and drive there. Our car got stuck in the snow on the driveway of Sólheimahjáleiga guesthouse. The staff was very nice and cleaned the road with their tractor and managed to pull us backwards. In the evening, we ate the best lamb we had in Iceland, saw the northern lights and slept in a comfortable bed and clean room. The breakfast was very good as well! Thank you very much!

The room was big and comfortable and quiet as there aren’t many rooms. The breakfast was complimentary and very tasty. The staff lady was very helpful.

Excellent location at the end of the Fimmvorduhals hike, 5 minutes walk from the famous Skógafoss waterfall. Check-In was perfect - it is actually a self-check-in and self-check-out. We got a code for the room by email and that's it. We haven't met anyone from the staff (only at breakfast). Breakfast was perfect - all the usual popular food, whatever one needs.

Great sized house, great area to all the places we wanted to visit. I wish the weather was better so we could see the farm around!
