I’ve spend few days at Shanol and I was recovering after being sick. They took really good care of me, the owner and her family are genuinely kind and everything is made for you to feel good. The room has been the cleaniest and the most comfortable I’ve had in India so far. The food is really good. Perhaps I would previse that the location is above the center which means to walk up and down. It was perfect for me as more quiet. I deeply thank the owner and her family again for their generosity and open heart, I had a wonderful time there.

By far, this was the nicest and most pleasant hotel I’ve stayed at during this recent trip to India. The room was exceptionally well built, spacious, super clean, and quiet. The design was fresh and contemporary; everything worked. But most of all, the caring and kindness of the owner and his staff made the difference. Anything you needed, from sightseeing tips to general recommendations, they were there to help you. Breakfast was good. Location wise, you’re about a half hour walk from the MG Marg (I walked it and I’m a senior), or you can take a taxi. The trade off is you have quiet here at night. This was a wonderful place to stay and I’d give it a 10+ if I could.

This is a great place to stay - walking distance to many sights & great value for money. The roof terrace is wonderful with amazing Kanchenjunga views. The mountain view room was excellent also with amazing views. The shower & basin both had hot water & the bed was really comfortable. The non view room was a bit dark & and dingy, so definitely recommend the mountain view option. The staff are really helpful & accommodating. This is a great choice in Gangtok.

Great location, beautiful ambience, great staff. Most friendly and helpful receptionist and staff, had a great first impression of hotel. Everything about the hotel was exceptional. It was clean, flashy interior, room with excellent service and a great view. Room itself was well equipped and comfortable. I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.

Location is far away from gangtok city about 27 km so place is ideal for nature lovers, away from city hustle bustle but power supply is erratic which can be improved by keeping solar lanterns and by installing solar panels with battery back up of 36 hrs. Transportation to gangtok takes about 1500 INR which is costly
