Search hotels in Diu

The whole city seems to be under construction. A lot of streets are beeing built. That makes it quite difficult to navigate. Furthermore, a lot of places of interest are currently closed due to renovation (Diu Museum, Church, Haveli Museum).

There are no shops in DIu in the main area - you need to go to UNA, the next town in Gujarat. There is a small Bazaar but its really nothing. But the beaches are serene; Ghoghla beach has bathrooms and changing rooms. There is a restaurant there too. The fort is nice but wish it was better kept. ALERT: there is no public transport in Diu - NO CABS. So you need to make arrangements to get to the hotel from the airport. Also, cab rentals with locals run to Rs 3500 for 8 hours!

Being brought up in ahmedabad, diu had just been a secondary location to escape the prohibition act imposed in gujarat. But it has always been a bit far away. Been coming here since my childhood and seeing this place evolve. Over a period of time DIU has evolved into a beach activity and couples/family paradise. Most resorts now provide parents with a means of escape from the routine life and provide couples some private time. There are some fun activities along the beach that allows for both couples and families to enjoy. So would definitely recommend for a weekend or a weekday getaway.
